Went tonight. Won't be back for a while. Really disappointed with basically everything except the guest tap list.

I was there Wednesday night for an event with Deschutes and Iron Hill. The baltic porter was fantastic. I enjoyed the double berliner weisse and the galaxy ipa. I can't speak much of the food menu as a whole, but they served mac and cheese, pork sliders and duck confit, all of which I enjoyed.

Worth a stop if you are in the area.

Was in there last night. Beer was generally decent. A few highlights being the Baltic Porter and Belgian Galaxy IPA. The other offerings were a bit more pedestrian. They definitely were struggling under the weight of last night being their first Friday open. Service was pleasant, but slow and largely inattentive. Food was so-so as the burger was something you can get at an Applebee's. I'll probably be back from time to time to check on the beer program, but likely won't be back for a full meal. Too many better places to eat.

    Hey Folks,

It's our first week being open, and it's been allot of work up to this point, from ownership, management, chef and all the hard working staff. Most everyone has put in 80/90 hours last week.
I'd hope that anyone who's come in realizes that there are allot of moving parts in starting a new business, and it takes time to get it dialed in. That being said, I think so far, we've done better than most for our opening. I'd hope that folks be fair and would at least give us a few visits before reviewing.
I'm sorry phish.... , that the house beer is not what you expected, I try hard to make the best beer possible, that's interesting for the beer "geek" and as well, the guy bringing in his family who just wants a nice drinkable beer. I'm bummed that anyone is disappointed in the beer.
I only ask that you be fair with your reviews-
Feel free to pm me with comments.

I'll agree that anyone writing off service/food quality of a place in their first week is slightly idiotic. Let a place and its employees find their groove before being too harsh.

    Where is Barren Hill?

My disappointment was not in service. I can elaborate if anyone would like but I thought I would spare the details and let everyone form their own opinions

Stopped in last night shortly after they opened, place was packed. Nice taplist, ordered up a sampler of Scott's beers, all were solid with the tripel, imperial pilsner & Belgian golden being stand outs imo. Food was damn good, and the bartenders were quite attentive. It is a bit of a drive, but it's also close to EBB so I can see myself heading that way more often than I do now.

Scott, my wife and I went last Friday (11/15/13) and we only ordered the beer you brewed and they were all OUTSTANDING! Between the two of us we had the Double Berliner Weisse, Imperial Pilsner, Belgian IPA (with Galaxy Hops), Baltic Porter, and Vanilla Imperial Porter. I was EXTREMELY impressed by the number of beers that you have brewed and the quality of the beers. There is no doubt in my mind that you are an very, very talented brewer and I am very happy that you have found a new home (which I sincerely hope that you stay at for a very long time). The food we ate (I had the fish & chips and my wife had the crab cake) were very tasty. I regret to say that the service side of the business is lacking but I am very, very, very confident that things will get better with time. I tried to have a conversation with Renee about things but to her credit she was working extremely hard and had no time to talk. I look forward to returning and I have high expectations that things will be of even higher quality in the future!

I have no way of contacting Renee so please forward my sentiment to her.

Cheers to Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery!

    Jack

I visited BH last week and was very impressed!
I'll look to go back this week. I really liked Scott's Belgian Gold.
Also I thought the German Pale Ale and and Baltic Porter were great!!!
I enjoyed tasty sausage with fries!

Stopped in yesterday after stopping a couple doors down at Brittingham's. Only tried one of the house beers, the double berliner, but thought it was fantastic. Also had the Wagyu burger. Nothing overly exciting. But, I love me a burger so I had to give it a whirl. Fries were cold and limp. Again, not an indictment. I'll be back, no doubt. Could tell the staff is still rounding into form. Things were busy, chaotic, and hectic. I'm sure everyone was making the best of things. We sat at the bar and Lucas took care of us. Good experience overall.

Jack, I relayed your message to Renee, and thank you for compliments, I really appreciate it.
Again, thanks everyone for being patient, I think we have a great team, and it's getting better everyday!
