I've only seen Golden Knot in 25oz bottles, even that was fairly cheap though ($5). It wasn't my favorite, but felt like I had to try it after it pulled the Fruit Beer Gold.

Since you asked "any opinions"...there are far better beers than Blue Moon for me to spend my money on.

Try it. What do you have to lose? The vast majority of beers (mass produced or not) are going to have as many people hating it as liking it. Just make your own determination. Chances are you'll like at least a couple of the choices in the sampler. Good luck!

Oh, look, BMC! Let's re-hash the same tired opinions that have been stated a million times. This time saying it sucks will really matter.

Really? By (likely) buying more expensive beer?

Last year's winter pack was great. There's some in this year's that I don't recognize. I'll miss that spiced cinnamon ale. I really like Winter Abbey Ale, glad it's back.

Yes. Even if I bought this pack at ~$12, that's still $12 I could have spent on anything else. Right now I'm saving up to buy BCBS at the end of the month. If I pick up this pack of inferior beer, it is essentially wasting $12 that could have gone towards another four-pack of a beer I know that I love.

Looking at it this way should really put things in perspective though: I could spend a dollar more and get a twelve-pack of Sierra Nevada Celebration. There is absolutely no way anything in this pack will be anywhere close to as good as a twelve-pack of SN's weakest beer, whatever that might be, at least in my opinion. To me, spending that $12 on something that isn't the top quality that I could buy is a waste of money, and that's why I won't be buying this pack.

I didn't say I couldn't afford Blue Moon, I said I can't afford to waste my money on it. There's too much good beer out there to spend money for average (or worse) beer. Even if I had millions of dollars, I still wouldn't be able to afford to buy Blue Moon because it would and should go to a more deserving, higher quality brewery. I don't think anyone can ever afford to waste money, no matter how much they have. Again, that's just my take. You can drink whatever you want and like whatever you want, and that's why I don't think this opinion is snobby. I shouldn't have to give Blue Moon a chance to not seem like a snob. I already know it sucks (to me), I'm done giving them chances.

If you're going to use that as a criterion for thread comments, it's going to get mighty quiet on this site. There are plenty of thread subjects that have been posted repeatedly and they still get lots of comments. And there are loads of posts on new topics that are restatements of previous comments too.

Never sampled their winter variety pack, but I've had some of their other seasonal's. I'd never buy Blue Moon, but truth be told, I don't hate it. A friend bought me one at the bar last night, and it didn't taste bad on tap.

Most of the Sandlot/Blue Moon offerings I have had have been overdone for the style. Basically the beers are for palates that can only appreciate a style if it blasts them with exaggerated, cartoonish flavor profiles.

In other words, I don't see how they differ that much from 90% of U.S. "craft" -- except that they are owned by BMC.

Love that descriptor. Hope you don't mind if I borrow it (cartoonish flavor profiles).

I've thrown some of the BM varietals into mixed sixes before at grocery stores, including Rounder and Short Straw. I didn't particularly care for any of them, but just wanted to put it out there that maybe some of the stores around you break them up as well and you could sample the ones you wanted to try that way?

    Feel free.

Maybe if Blue Moon were to put cartoon death metal skulls and other scary monsters on their labels the beers would sell better among the beer geek demographic.

I going to go out on a limb and guess that the person claiming Blue Moon sucks has never tasted more than their trademark beer and is basing an opinion strictly on the MillerCoors ownership..

That said, their beer is priced comparably here in MI with Founders, Bells, Sierra Nevada, and New Holland when they are on sale so I see little reason to purchase it.

Craft beer appreciation aside, Blue Moon has always tasted like really great orange juice that gets you drunk to me. A+ ice cold on draft with wings. I don't really enjoy anything other than their standard "witbier" attempt though.
