OHB Event Horizon 2013

This stout completely blew me away, a perma want for me.

 

This is a tasty brew. Good stuff indeed.

Very underrated imo.

Wow, I feel like I've been the only one on this and I'm glad I'm not. I was extremely disappointed with the first bottle I got. So I reluctantly (because of the price) purchased a 2nd. Same thing happened. It was all fruit.

 

I've never had either with any age on them, I either drink them or trade them to friends I've made on the board. I'm anything but disciplined in aging some thing. This years LP will age wonderfully IMO based on what I had on tap.

 

I might have to pop a bottle to check it out, what I had at Mellow Mushroom was a Bourbon Bomb, but I hear from guys who know more than me this brew does have some batches that are inconsistent with the fruit and barrel. I also have to say guys I've traded it to want more, and I've traded with them before on LP and EH from last year, so they're had a two year run with these.

 

I don't get out to Sams much it's kinda far, but what a great beer shop, it's almost overwhelming the brews they have on the shelf.

 

It wasn't as if it was a bad beer, just wasn't what I expected, especially for the price.

 

Event Horizon pairs well with vanilla ice cream and football.

Really? Peabodys will ship? Last time I was in there I landed 2012 La Folie, 10/11/12 FIS, and BBB batch 8. One of the best shops I've seen in the state.

 

He does. We're going to Asheville in two weeks, but unfortunately Boone is too far off the track. My wife is a good sport, but I don't want to push it. Would love to meet Chris in person, I hear he has hidden treasures to make any beer lover drool.

 

Parabola is bigger....that's about it.
Event Horizon is the best crafted barrel aged stout out there, much harder to do without that "size" behind it. At nearly half the cost of those you can compare it with.

 

Event Horizon, Sexual Chocolate, and Silent Night all come in at around the same level for me. I don't know if I can place which one I dig the most. Lindley Park was good, but it doesn't stand up to these guys. Olde Rabbits Foot puts them all down, but it's not happening this year.

I can't wait for Event Horizon to come out again. Good Bottle cracked a keg of last year's batch about a month ago for their 1 year anniversary.

 

I'll be glad to share one with you if I head to Xmas Jam. This years had more fruit than in the past for sure. But not overwhelming IMO. But everybody's palate is different.

Can't wait for EH. Still have one from last year. Gave others away. Always a great stout!
