Couldn't agree more with your reports on Local Option. I look forward to every event there but then remember to brace myself for shitty, rude service. Sheffield's is my favorite in the city, and hands down the best pricing on the north side. I also love Paddy Long's and a dive bar near me: Galway Bay

Sitting at the bar with my wife at Birch Hill Tavern in Glastonbury, CT, or with a group of friends at McLadden's in West Hartford. If I could afford to eat their more often, and lived closer, Armsby Abbey in Worcester, MA would be my spot too.

My home. If I'm going out I'll hit up the Brew Kettle, Mikes Bar and Grill in Berea, Tremont Tap House, or B Spot.

Flying Saucer. Over 200 beers and it's right on the lake, great view.

20 Tap in Indianapolis. Once they closed we always drove the half mile down the street to The Sinking Ship. We'd play darts and have a merry time there. Now that I live in Cali I guess it is the living room. As soon as I find a way to make money out here it will probably be Beachwood in Seal Beach.

In Wisconsin, definitely in my basement with my pool table or just relaxing in the back yard.

I'm an editor and a writer so I spend a lot of time at my desk. About sunset, I like to pour a cold draft from my home unit, sit at my desk, and watch the sun go down. My home office looks out onto the Grand Tetons and the colors of the evening are always enhanced with a pint of my favorite brew - Bitch Creek Extra Special Brown!

For anybody close to the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, you should check out Durty Nellie's (Palatine) or Duke's (Crystal Lake) -- same ownership, decent food (better than decent at Duke's), and generally great beer selection. "Great" has been known to include KBS on draft, Zombie Dust fairly regularly, and I had some Evil Twin Even More Jesus at Duke's recently that made me very happy.

Been to Sheffields and agree, thats a great place. I forget about it sometimes. Its a pain though as they have 4 different bar areas with different drafts, and sometimes I feel bad asking the server to run around getting me and my beer geek friends different beers from all about the place. Theyre good sports about it but I still feel like I should leave an extra generous tip everytime I'm there.

I travel 50% of the time due to business so I adapt and my nirvana is anywhere there is good beer and better yet, places where I can meet up with fellow BA'rs and geeks to enjoy those with. While at home, it's the deck during the warm months and in the winter?...the EZ chair in front of the fireplace.

The few months it's not too hot or cold; my front porch looking down at the lake. My new favorite place this winter will be my hot tub on the back deck:grinning:

Sadly, the first decent watering hole is 45+ miles away as the crow flies:grimacing:

During colder months, in my basement in front of the fireplace. Especially on Friday night when I have my first beer of the week.
