I didn't say I don't normally tip, I usually do and I give normal to good tips. Too many people have the idea that tipping is required, the whole point of having the OPTION to tip or NOT, is to help make sure you get good service. If I don't leave a tip I usually leave a short note explaining why. I have had one waitress who was new and did a terrible job, she didn't get a tip that time. The next time I had her I got good service and the tip reflected that.

Lastly if a place underpours or uses cheater glasses, then refuses to give what I paid for even when called on it, why would I want to return?

Not leaving a tip for crappy service and "Consider leaving no tip and leaving a note why, Yes I realize management is most likely responsible." are to all together things....
You tell me you are the one that keeps going back to places that no manager is available and have crappy servers.

A supposed pet peeve of the bartending staff is using a credit card for one drink, or so I've heard. I do this pretty frequently.

Yeah, if your selling it you should be able to describe it like a pro.

If you're stting at the bar, you're open game. That's the Man Rules.

I'm not one myself but I know a few of them. If you're one and done, it may be slightly annoying but not a huge deal, especially if you close out right away and they know you're done and that they can focus on the remaining paying costumers. However, if you close out and keep coming back a few times, that is irritating, and why some bars have a $10 (or more) minimum charge for credit/debit cards around my area.

This rule applies when talking to a chick, not another guy. It also doesn't apply if your completely drunk, which I guess is another thing I'd like to add. Bartenders who don't cut someone off when they clearly need to, then when the guy tries to talk to me, slurring all his words they don't ask him to leave.

    Hear, hear!

There's a bar in my town with fancy metal panels on the ceiling [which IMO just look OK] and they reverberate any sound made in the room. Get a handful of drunk patrons in there and it's impossible to talk to your friend sitting next to you. It's terrible!

I take a book to the bar when hockey isn't in season and the drunker they are the crazier they react to me....I had some dumb "female" take my book and sit on it and demand I talk to her!
I have had people ask me to scratch one of my lottery tickets.
I sat in a bar one night that these idiots kept playing that Goats singing pop songs video over and over...do you know how unsetteling that is?
I have had people reach over my shoulder and help me with mega touch!
BUT If I in the nicest way possible say "I just want to enjoy my beer alone thank you" I get called a bitch!

I can't stand mega touches on the bar or dart boards that are in walk ways!

I am certain that doormen don't sell beer, they just work the door. They're the first person you interact with when walking into an establishment and shouldn't have a chip on his shoulder.

Outdated menus are probably my biggest pet peeve...on line and in the bar itself. My favorite place keeps their list almost real time. When a new beer is added, they more often than not change it on BM.com...update FB and shoot out the Twitter right away. I can see the bleach thing, but as some have alluded to, I prefer that to some of the alternatives. Frosted glasses? I can see that...some ales are simply better at a higher temp. My go to keeps a middle rack of pints on ice...and also some room temp pints and most other sizes and glass styles at room temp as well. It seems that most beers best enjoyed
"icy" cold tend to been pint sized pours, while those that warrant less frostiness come in those alternate sizes and shapes, so it works out for the most part. Unfriendly bartenders? That seems to be fashionable in lot of NY Craft bars...but its not my thing and again, at my go to, it is not the thing.

I wouldn't want the very thing that the beer comes out of touching my beer either...

What about "turbo taps" and cask beer?
