Thinking of cracking open the Voodoo maple bacon

Cheshire Brewhouse's Cheshire Gap, classic English Pale Ale
well rounded that warms with bitter finish
tickling the tongue not slamming it in the door

Just finished Das Helle (from Aldi). The bloke on the label looks like the dude from the Dos Equis adverts.[IMG]

    Stay thirsty my friends!

Slipped out to lunch yesterday and as driving went for the Theakston's Bitter. I had forgotten just how good this can be when well kept and served, after I left there was still a strong smack of malt in my mouth.I'm coming to the conclusion that good examples like this blow most golden ales out of the water.

Really cool experimental version of Tiny Rebel Urban IPA today, made with their Belgian yeast. Really nice, that depth of flavour you get from a Belgian ale but in a hoppy IPA. Great stuff. Also had onion rings in FUBAR pale ale batter - absolutely immense, so good.

Not had much beer recently - had a Hawkshead NZPA yesterday which was rather good. Otherwise I have been imbibing cheap wine. Might need to fix that

Mallinson's Mosaic, nice but I often feel that single hop beers lack something in the balance. Maybe a second hop. Just saying.

Missed the bus in Manchester City Centre by seconds so decided to wait the half hour in the Port Street Bar
where Magic Rock's Curiosity NZ reminded me of tasting New World hops for the first time and was just fantastic and having downed the pint in fifteen minutes left ample time to have myself half of Quantum's Imperial Smoked Treacle Stout (Huge dark beer for cask) which was a big liquorice taste that took me back to being given "Spanish" as a child

Smoked sausage chips and Dr. Thirsty's No.4 Blonde by Wychwood
thanks to it being unpasteurised there actually is a lot more taste in the bottle
than there is in a lot of their bottled stuff.

If my memory serves me well
it was an okayish beer no great shakes but above average

the reviews on here seem a bit generous to say the least.

Me I'm going to have a Bateman's Dark Lord, turn the flavour up a tiny bit.

Indeed - my review takes the average down a little
Though my bottle was a bit old. I get the impression that it would be superb on cask.

    Next up - Partizan's Saison

Shut Thi Gob - The sweetness is enjoyable, but it came out of the bottle flat as a pancake.

    Had to have another:

Old Tom - A taste sensation and a rare strong ale that you could neck ten bottles of in a night.
