Vancouver - Black Christmas Bottle Share

    Tentative Dec 6 or 7. Likely the 7th.

    What: Giant craft bottle share. If I can see through your beer, you can't bring it. Exceptions made for beers above 10% abv. This is a private event. Invite only.

    Beers: Stouts. Porters. Strong Ales. Anniversary Beers. Bocks. Dunkels. Black IPA. Anything really dark.

    Maximum 3 bombers/750ml per person, or equivalent. I might be creating a token system of sorts. You get a 4oz. pour of anything shared. We are not splitting bottles between 50 people...the idea is to enjoy the beers - This system means if you bring 3 bombers you get 15 tasters. 2 bombers 10 tasters. 1 bomber 5 tasters. And of course you get to try whatever you bring if you want. For any crazy beers like say, Dark Lord, we could do 3oz pours meaning those bottle would be worth a few more tokens. Just an idea at this point.

    Venue: Hoping to rent my old studio space and some sort of food will be 'catered' thus everyone will be expected to chip in. Shouldn't be much.

    People: I'm pretty sure 100 people would fit in there comfortably. Invite only, but bring spouses or good friends.

    More details soon. Figured I'd put out an invite to everyone on BA. Out of towners welcome! BM me if you can come.

    Confirmed beers: Dark Lord, Black Tuesday, Fullers Vintage 2005-13 vertical (maybe missing a couple), various 50/50 Eclipse, '02 Fish Poseidon...

    Ha I saw the FB post thru a mutual friend, came here hoping I could be invited :slight_smile:

    I'm in! I don't want to cause myself a hangover so might go with the 2 bottle option.

    I'll be more cautious this time and say I'm tentatively in. Can definitely bring an interesting bottle or two (or 3) along though :slight_smile:

    Ha! So did I... but magerob told me he's bringing a '13 already. Though if there are a lot of attendants, maybe 2 bottles would be wise... :-)

    Wow...that stuff gets around! :stuck_out_tongue: Two bottles couldn't hurt, assuming you have 10+ people.

    Also: I will gladly supply a good lot of beer in order to get a couple ounces of Black Tuesday, if there is a way to electronically get in line. :grinning:

    i will try to beermail you as the facebook thing didn't work . I have only 1 beer to bring ( though a sixpack ) but I doubt anyone has any of these left : )

    Expecting 40-50 people at most. Bottles will be sorted into different piles or 'levels' and 5-6 beers will be opened at once. Those who brought the bottle will open them. I'll have a level for rare beers that will be opened at the discretion of the owner, and with all beers, the owner can have as much of their own beer as they want. Going to request everyone respect the 3-4oz. per pour rule for sharing. Don't want thimbles of beer lol.

    No photos, but drank an awful lot of excellent beer - and had a great time to boot. Probably my favourite of the night I think. Thanks again!

    Yeah now I regret not going :slight_frown: I was planning to up until the last minute but needed the downtime. I should have known I'd be filled with regret.
