Completely agree with this. I opened a 2012 bottle a couple weeks ago and noticed the sour oxidized taste. I cellared almost a full case and I deeply regret it. This year my allotment will be gone by the end of the winter (stout) season.

Did a bottle BBPT5 vs. tap BBPT5 on September 5th with Wiggs (brewer at Dark Horse). Nominal difference. Minimal amount of oxidation from the bottled version, but that is expected. They were so very close.
Just had another bottle yesterday, and my bottles are all aging perfectly fine.

 

Does anybody know how long BBpt5 is on tap at the brewery? Was thinking about going Sunday after all the craziness that it seems will be there has died down. Not really interested in buying bottles due to all the other releases so close to each other (Sweet Repute, Bourbon County variants). Definitely want to try some though to compare to Black Note, Bourbon County, and KBS.

 

Don't know if they typically put it on tap in the taproom after the party...I know it's on tap in the VIP lounge, but in the regular taproom, a local may have to answer that.

 

I ran into him in Ann Arbor. He's coming to 4 Elf and bringing a special bottle to share. He would neither confirm nor deny if this was the legendary De Viento Grand Reserve.

I'll give you a hint.....my baseball furries uniform didnt pass as an elf costume last year. I think I made the reference too last year that started the nonsense.

 

I know this is a longshot but if anyone who is going from the Detroit or Ann Arbor area that doesn't plan on buying their full allotment I would love a four pack or 2 of BBPT5. I can't. make it due to prior plans. Let me know.

 

Hey all. Looking to set up an IP trade at this years 4 elf with someone who still has some monster29 and BBA Monster 29 hanging around. Also wouldn't mind having a bottle or 2 of last years bbpt5.

I am hitting hoppin frogs Boris van winkle release and I also have BA Doris, Cafe Boris, and possibly Bairille Aois available for trade.

Shit, I had 4 BBPT5'ths a year ago and left them in my garage to explode on night Never Even got to try one

 

I'd like to know where you live... And how cold it got, I mean that beer is 14 percent alcohol...

 

Traverse City, -18ish. The caps were off about 1/4" on them. Brought one in to thaw but but then it really went off in my sink. Smelled nice :/
