He's probably the biggest brewery suck-up on this site. I think this thread is partially trolling, and partially him trying to get others to "see the light".

Just picked one up in Laguna Niguel along with a Racer X. They also had Double Jack, Double Bastard, Delirium Tremons, a few different Cismontanes, and quite a few others. Ballast Point variety pack too. They've really stepped it up in the last few months.

    Ignorance. Let's talk about that.

Whole Foods buys EB (Enjoy By), keeps it in their unrefrigerated back room, then rotates it in as needed. DrtyBvrJuice's repsonse to that: nothing. Costco buys EB for the same price, keeps it in the store where you see it, probably at a lower temperature than Whole Foods's back room (and definitely at a lower price). BvrJuice: "oh, how awful."

    You are trolling.

I don't shop at Whole Foods either. I wouldn't know.

So your argument wasn't against any particular store, it was against buying anywhere other than the brewery (or one of its stores). Gotcha.

The irony here is that it doesn't take much of a BA search to find a Bvr post that is slamming Stone.

    Exactly.

Stone is not my favorite brewery. My point is if you support any brewery buy directly from them to insure they maximize profit. For Stone it may not be as big a deal but from smaller guys it does make a difference.

    Slowly you knobs are learning.

You tell them knobs! Nothing commands mutual respect quiet like name calling.

You do realize that nothing nurtures company growth other than by buying the beer at non-brewery site stores, thus getting those shops to order more beer from said location and potentially giving more growth to said company.

But hey, if you're all about arrested development, more power to you, homie.

It's pretty clear you haven't been in a whole foods for a long time. They have a fridge selection in every WF I have seen that beer stays cold. Not to mention that if it's in the back room, it's being store cold. I remember when I picked up my Parabola's from one (because hey, driving the hour and a half to Buelton would have been a bit much, the WF worker brought it out to me from the back and the box was pretty cold.

Tell me, Dirty Beaver Juice. Do you have a fridge system in your car? OH MY! So you mean to tell me that you carry a beer from whatever local brewery you buy it from to your home in a hot car?!? Ugh, why don't you just drink it how the brewers originally intended it to be drank and brown bag it directly after you buy it?

No, he has a cellar in his car where he keeps it at exactly 50 degrees. One degree off and the beer may spoil, at which point he tosses it and drives another 20 miles back to the store in order for the brewery to maximize profit.

How much more profitable is it to sell bottles individually while hiring several employees and opening and nice retail spot, paying for all the additional overhead. Paying wages and rent for however long it takes to sell 8 pallets worth of beer a couple of bottles at a time, verses an instant order and unloading of 8 pallets onto someone else?

Many places do make a lot more profit without event selling direct. Sure the margin on a single bottle may be more, but more profitable in he overall long run might be debatable. I can guarantee you them selling to Costco was a business decision that made a lot of sense to to them.
