That is what I was thinking...13207...July 27. No bueno for me. I will have to give it another shot when I can find a fresh bottle. I am very particular about how fresh IPAs are - usually after 3 months they taste stale to me.

Ahh the Julian code. Very popular in the retail food industry so stores can tell when food goes bad but us average schmoes can't read it and have no clue what is going down...

Good to know! Just checked mine and its 1329*. Can't make out the last digit, its faded, but that would make it right around a month old. If it was the 29th day, it would be 13029, correct?

Where on the bottle is the code? Bought a sixer two weeks ago and can't find the code. It did not live up to the hype for me at all but maybe it's old.

We'll apparently mine is older than April since it does not have that date stamp. Disappointing.

I just Google "XXXth day of the year" where XXX is the last three digits and that always does it.

I don't buy Sculpin if it is more than a month old, and I try to only buy it if it is refrigerated. Most of my regular stores can barely keep it in stock so it's not usually a problem. Fresh Sculpin is awesome.

I've never seen people so confused by a simple equation. They should put a born on date but look. It's the 305th day of the year 2013. Figure 30 days in a month and let's go with 11/05/2013. Why is this so complex?

so i take it from some of the responses on here and comments about how fast Sculpin goes bad that I wasnt being too much of a prick when I complained that the Sculpin I drank on Saturday tasted stale? it was bottled in July...

That cheap?! $16-17 here in NY. Stoopid is only a bit more at $5.50.

Doesn't matter though. Sculpin is too good for its value still.

Just enjoyed a Sculpin dated 13304 which is Oct 31, 2013. It is excellent. That said, I prefer Hop Stoopid when I can get it fresh. I purchased a few bombers dated for Oct 1, 2013 back around Oct 24th. I wish I bought a few more.

    I am very
I am very encouraged fresh Sculpin is making to East Coast. A couple of years ago there was not bottle dating, now they have it. I think brewers have gotten the message loud and clear about bottle dating.

    Are we sure of this?

I'm almost certain that today I saw a code that read 13383 (or similar Julian number that was >366). The part I'm confident about is that the numbers in addition to the 13 were >366

Ballast Point bottle dating has been very inconsistent, so nothing would surprise me. They have also changed labeling. What does bottle look like? Maybe it was old bottle that had an enjoy by date? I have an email from a couple of weeks ago from BP stating new bottles have a Julian bottle date on them.

It was a little white sticker on the bottom of the box of cans.

Damn, don't know about that. Sounds like a best by date. BP has been all over the map with their approach to bottle dating. It has appeared in different places on bottle as well as having different meanings.
