I've noticed that high abv beers aren't distributed in NC as far as I know. Does our state not allow high abv beers or something? I seen we don't get DFH 120min, and a beer I want but haven't even heard of around Here is the BCBS. So just a little info on why I haven't heard about any distribution of it here would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah, NC's got a.. 15% LIMIT I think it is? Might get some BCBS this year, because it's down to 13%. DFH 120 is around 18-20%, so you won't see it in NC.
Seeing as BCBS is not yet released for this year, I'm not surprised that you have not seen it around (also when it comes to NC I highly doubt that you will see it sitting around on shelves, it generally flies off the shelves when it is released... at least in other states). I think it is supposed to be released on Black Friday according to the advertisements I have seen around from Goose Island. Also, I think Goose Island just came to NC this year (or possibly late last year) and there is not a definitive statement on whether or not NC will get BCBS.
DFH 120 Minute, yeah the only way you would be able to get that is through a trade or picking it up when you are in a state that does not have the ABV cap. You might be able to get it in VA but I can't recall if they have an ABV limit.
The cool part was that the Avery 15%+ beers sat on shelves at Sams Quik Shop for 2+ years (ive only been here for 2 and change)--Mephistopheles, Beast, and Samaels. They got label approval at sub 15%, then just kept shipping them regardless of the ABV. I bought all 3 before the ABC realized what the hell was going on and cut shipping. The label clearly said 16.43% on Mephistopheles.
Hey I do what I can do buck the system. I mean if theyre going to screw me, Ill screw them right back (hehehehe).
I enjoyed a bomber of Stone's Oak Smoked Old Guardian last night. At 11.4 percent, it was a nicely sessionable barleywine.
