I'm travelling from NC to Reminderville Ohio on Friday to visit an old friend for the weekend. Looking for some help as far as stops (mainly looking for good bottle shops) on my route. I'll go through Canton and Akron, but doesn't look like much south of there. You never know though, figured I'd check with the locals. We're going into Cleveland on Saturday, so any recommendations for top bottle shops there would also be appreciated. From doing a little research I'll be looking for Brew Kettle White Rajah, Fathead Head Hunter, Columbus IPA, Ithaca Box of Hops (if still available). I'd love to find some Three Floyds, but that doesn't sound likely. Any other recommendations for good local or limited stuff I can't get in NC? Thanks!
Make sure to stop at Lizardville in Copley. That's the best bottle shop in the area you will be in and is also a bar. They will chill anything on the shelf and had 10 taps which are usually at least half full of some good stuff. It's worthwhile to stop at the grocery stores (Giant Eagle, Acme, and Mustard Seed Market are all within about 1/2 mile from there). Those stores have a lot of stock of the local stuff. Acme also has a growler station that usually stocks a gem or two. One of these places may have Three Floyds (in fact Mustard Seed still has some Razerhoof as of yesterday). As for Cleveland, it really depends on the area you'll be in. Warehouse Beverage is one of the better stops located in South Euclid, but there are other options depending on what area you'll be in.
Perfect! My friend has mentioned Lizardville, did not realize there was one on the way. We're doing a trail run Saturday morning, then probably heading to Great Lakes.
Don't know if the Copley lizardville is on your way. You will probably take 8 up to 271 and not 77. The Bedford heights lizardville would be closer
+1 for Lizardville in Copley. I was in from Chicago recently and had a great time there talking beer and filling up several 6'ers of singles. The staff I met there knew their beer and I was tempted to stick around and share a bomber or two with them. Alas, my wife was waiting in the car! It's a good stop.
