TWs have different prices on some items within the State of FL. It's probably/possible, ABC does as well.

Sent TW an e-mail (actually, they call it an e-mail...it was filling out a form on their site, and they reply via e-mail) this morning asking about the coupons, as it's been about 2 months since I've gotten one in my e-mail. They replied faily quickly (2 hours ago) asking me to verify my e-mail....

I replied back explaining that my e-mail is working, and told them what coupons I used to get weekly, and that I still seem to get wine coupons, and other alerts (nearly daily), but no beer coupons. I haven't heard back yet from my reply. Here's what I wrote back...

Total Wine rep said in another BA thread that they want to get away from doing this, and they are now pushing that people pay to attend their craft beer tastings, that usually cost around $15, and they claim they give attendees several beer coupons at these tastings. It would be nice if I had time to attend the tastings, if they happened at the store nearest to me on a regular basis, and if the tastings were of beers that I felt were worth paying to try. This is rarely the case.

Anyway, I complained on that BA thread and on twitter and the guy said he was relaying my feedback as well as the others that were disappointed in this. Since then, they have sent one coupon and then it looks like they stopped doing them again. Very disappointing. Throw in the fact that TW always seems to sell out very quick or keep the beers I want behind the counter limited inventory, and I've been shopping a lot more often at ABC.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not paying $15 to go to a "class" where I probably know more than the instructor... coupled with the fact that I'll be tasting either beers I already have had, or others I have no desire to try (styles I know I don't like).

I got an e-mail from them yesterday too. Coupon in the ad works for Tampa Bay area stores only - Tampa, Clearwater, St. Pete, Sarasota.

Incidentally, when I click the link above, and choose "coupons" from the sidebar, the coupon for beer shows as valid in New Mexico only.

That is weird. I just clicked the link again and it didn't go straight to the coupon, but when I clicked coupons from the sidebar, it brought up the coupon that says valid in FL only. I guess the key is to be signed up for their emails. Their website doesn't always work that great. Either way I'm happy to finally see another beer coupon from them. I hope they keep them coming!

Hmmmm, maybe it's basing it on my IP address (I'm at work in Clearwater, but these things aren't always foolproof).

Even more strange, when I go to the TW site, it has me already set up to browse the Clearwater store.

No idea why it would bring up an ad based on New Mexico. Maybe TW is trying to get me to move. :grimacing:

Finally wormed around to the online coupon. Saw ALB NM is the first on the location list, apparently why you have a new home. Then got a coupon in a mail ad this afternoon, although I am signed up for online ads. Good thru 11-30 in FL only. I'd like to attend a marketing meeting with those good people.

The one I got in my e-mail worked last night in St. Pete.

The cashier originally tried typing in the code off the coupon - no workie. Thinking, "grrrrrreat, here we go again." Then, she used the scanning gun on the UPC showing on my phone's screen - it worked. :sunglasses:

Ok, I didn't want to say anything, but none of those links were working for me. I kept getting a "timed out" message. Well, I finally got an email a while ago with my "beer coupon".
    I feel whole again!

Here's the coupon I just got in my email a short time ago (at 5:15.... Roger Daltrey's favorite time). Works in many states (VA, Laurel, MD, NC, SC, FL, AZ, CA, NV, and NM only)...

Don't understand why a corporate giant like TW wants to charge for beer tastings. TW has wine tasting every Friday and Saturday around here and does not charge for those. So why charge for beer tastings? Doesn't make business sense.

    Hello brstlsr4drmrs,

I work for TW so I can help to clarify; the beer classes TW charges $15 for are the 1.5 - 2 hour seated classes held each month in the classroom in the store, just as there are wine classes held in the classroom monthly and those are $25.

These classes are separate from and not to be confused with the regular weekend wine tastings at the store tasting bar. Periodically, beer tastings are held here, too. Keep in mind these free weekend tasting are just small samplings of a few products promoting those specific products.

The beer classes encompass 12 beers plus a bonus beer (except S. Carolina where it's limited by law to 8 beers and class charge is $10). Based around different themes -- such as all hoppy beers, or winter warmers and holiday beers as in the next class later this month -- these classes generally spotlight discussion and tastings of different beer styles available in the universe of beer.

Beer class attendees do receive three coupons with a total value of $28 off beer when used to the max.

    Rob

I'm just glad TW seems to have resumed sending coupons out via email now, after they had stopped for awhile. No more complaints as long as the coupons keep coming.

Thanks for clarifying that these are "classes" and that tastings remain "free" of charge. ~~~~ jp

I really wish they'd go back to including bombers and 750ml bottles in the $1 off promotion.

Those are always included in the beer class coupons (and even better they're for $1.50 off/bottle up to 12 bottles [up to $18 savings right there]).

For the $1.00 promotional coupons that come out periodically, the "large format" bottle coupons is rotated in and out with the pack coupons over time (unless that's been changed and I'm unaware of it).

Thanks for the info. I never buy 12 big bottles at a time and there's now way I'm going to pay $15 to attend a 1.5 - 2 hour class where I'm more knowledgeable about the product than the teacher. I'm sure there are some stores with a knowledgeable beer staff, Fort Myers just doesn't happen to be one of them. Either way, I haven't seen any "large format" coupons in a very long time.
