Hey guys just trying to figure out if this deal is worth it or not. Got another BA on here who wants to trade me a 2012 darklord for a full case of shorts. A typical case of shorts would go for about 40 bucks or so. To me it seems a bit steep, what do you guys think?

the $ amount is honestly up to you. The other thing to consider is the shipping cost, you will be sending a lot of beer which would cost way more to ship.

My suggestion is come up with how much you would like to spend on DL. Then see if you can package together enough Short's beer to make it interesting for him. Try and get some limited or special beers.

Full case of beer + cost of shipping for one $15 bottle of an "okay" (and certainly over-hyped) beer? Hell no.

This of course, is all in my humble opinion.

thats exactly what I was thinking!

plus I forgot to mention 2 things though, 1, its gonna be an ip trade, and 2, the shorts beers aren't gonna be easy to get ones, brewery only releases.

That is certainly your call. Dark Lord should be traded at $4$ value. It's probably the easiest brewery-only beer to trade for. I'd say you're putting too much money into getting a single bottle at this point.

Depends on how much you want the bottle.

By definition, anytime both traders are happy with the trade, it's fair. I've traded $40+ worth of beer for a BA Speedway, but I really, really wanted to try it, so both sides were happy.

Personally, I wouldn't trade a case of brewery-only release Short's for a single Dark Lord, even though I like both DL & Short's. I'd ask for two, or for the other party to even it out a bit with good-to-somewhat-limited locals.

If they are brewery only then I say it is not a good deal. I would do a mix 12 pack, cost of about $20, he gets a lot more volume. Both brewery only. Sure his might have been "harder" to get tickets, but included in that is a huge party, plus Bellaire isn't exactly near anything.

I do have 1 question regarding "brewery only". Does the Shorts brewery only mean you have to go to the brewery on a single release day and wait in line? Or is it sitting on hand at the brewery and you can go pick it up any time?

a lot of their beers that are currently brewery only were released for the anniversary party might have lasted the day, but will not last long

So the latter answer from my previous post is the answer as far as any DL owner is concerned.

I don't have any of the beers involved in this discussion right now, but $40 is pretty steep even if the other trader is letting him off on some of the rarity/hype equation. I doubt they'd be willing to add another DL, but at the very least the other trader should be adding some other quality beers.

It was Brewery only release they only made 300 cases. There were allot of people in line picking up cases. They did have some left over that you could pick up in 6 packs at the brewery the next day not sure how much though.

As in, a similar sought after release around the same price range. Don't kid yourself.

overall I agree with you. But it gets harder when you are talking about limited or brewery only beers. Especially if you are doing limited brewery only beers for off the shelf beers (what I originally thought the trade was for).
