Well, I got them for about $60 for three with free shipping. I put a board across the top of them and turned it into a bookshelf which I sure cardboard wine cases would not have worked well for... But again, to each there own - they also look a heck of a lot nicer than a stack of cardboard boxes when you are living in a small NYC apartment with limited closet space.

Peace on Earth.... which may be easier to find than some of the whales many other BAs will be asking for.

A gift certificate for the B&B at Ommegang. That sounds like the perfect gift.

Kuhnhenn also has a B&B, but that one is more of a place to crash after visiting the brewery, but hey, that has value. Maybe other breweries also have a B&B that could be considered for a gift.

    Hi all!

Looking for a really great gift for my boyfriend to really knock his socks off. I'd prefer not to just get him solely beer though. He's been really into the idea of cellaring beer, so I'm interested in checking out that Brewbicle. But I am a little concerned it may just be a pricy box and he'd be happier with the shelves he has in his closet.

We live in Texas, and he's really into cellaring limited or rare beers... especially sour ales. He also really enjoys IPAs. We've been all around the metroplex looking for some rare brews the past few weekends. I thought about hunting down a fridge and an external temperature remote so he can monitor it, but I'm a little concerned he may want more input into that decision and would rather get it himself than me springing it on him.

He's not big on beer shirts or books. He does love the ideas of growlers and has one. My other great idea was some kind of VIP tickets/money for a trip to a beer festival in Texas or nearby states, but I can't seem to find any 2014 dates announced yet. If anyone has recommendations on some of the better ones, I'd love to get him that.

Anyway, probably way too much info. But if anyone had any ideas, I'd really appreciate it. As I said, I have a few, but I figured I should go to the experts. I'm not a big beer drinker myself, so I have a hard time deciding what would be useful for him or what is just novelty.

Edit: I've since found out that the B&B facility that I mentioned above is not operated by Ommegang, but info about it is available on Ommegang's website: http://www.ommegang.com/#!events

Does he homebrew? If not I bet he'd appreciate a starter homebrew kit. Head to homebrew headquarters in Richardson or save money and buy a kit online. I think living social has one from northern brewer for $65. Make sure to get him a big pot too. Kits don't usually come with them.

will you marry me? oh wait...already married...with kids - eek!

but srs...best to define your budget first. saying that you were willing to go for a fridge with external temp remote says you are in the north $100 range. for high end gifts - a membership to a reserve society from a cool brewery (bruery, nightshift, JWB might have some left who haven't paid?, etc) would be amazing...they clock in ~$300/$400 and still require shipping and more money down the road, but do come with a significant amount of rare beer/swag. alternatively you can look to buy him a single bottle of something cool (and sour) on the grey market...or best yet, track down something limited you can get locally or that is coming out now (bourbon county anything) that you can't get. Freetail brewing has been releasing brews lately...that could be a good place to check out (if he hasn't already nabbed the limited releases from there).

My family are jerks... they all know I'm into beer (and have been for at least a decade) and I never get ANYTHING beer-related! lol.

My wife knows that beer = win though. Unfortunately I know for her, Coach purses are a win. Doh!
