It wasn't put out on the floor. Might have better luck asking for it? From what I was told, allocation for the store was down to 5 cases for the first run.

I asked. I was told it sold out. 4-bottle limit.

Tonight I stopped by RSQ WF around 8:00, didn't see any out but also didn't bother to ask. Then I went down to Interbay WF and grabbed two bottles (the shelf was bare, had to ask - two bottle limit, $13.99 as reported). Then on my way home I stopped by Chuck's, where they had a bunch for $17.50, I passed. They also had some Wisdom Seeker and Stone Southern Charred behind the counter if anyone's interested.

I think my limit for bombers is around $15 these days unless it's something crazy special.

Of course Chuck's comes in at the high end, no surprise there, but that's for another thread and I get the feeling that subject isn't new.

On the topic of moderately priced decent bombers though, Safeway in Shoreline has 2012 Olde Bluehair for $9.99(!). Drinking well.

Yes. It's amazing the finds to be had if you're diligent. That's why I always check the beer aisle whenever I go into a grocery store - to my wife's frustration

Shit was hanging around here for a few months last year. I guess if they sell it all at that price it's ok though.

If you knew where to look for it. I got mine but it took a little effort. As for the price, I was always amazed that Abyss was such a bargain so I'll learn to live with the increase.

:-) It's been 5 days from the release, and still no comments or opinions about the quality of this year's version. Anyone think this year's version is any good?

Not to brag or anything, but down here in Eugene it took no effort at all to pick up my 6 bottles (which was all that I wanted). Price was $17 a bottle at the Willakenzie MofC, which was what I was expecting to pay.

Normally I just get 4 bottles each year, but based on my glass at the brewpub Saturday, I feel like this year's version is particularly exceptional. Yes, I would have liked it even more if they had held the line on the price from last year, but considering the quality of the beer, I'm OK with the price increase.

I just had a 2012 last night and it was a bit underwhelming (especially when compared to the 2010 recently on tap at Uber, which isn't a fair comparison), but it was still a bit hot and the barrel character didn't come through very well. Is the 2013 drinking better?

I think so. The last two vintages, when I tried them fresh at the brewpub, I thought them a bit hot and overly hoppy. The flavor profile tended to smooth out a bit with time in the glass, but still, it was a bit of a chore drinking a full glass. The 2013 seems to be richer and to have more depth, and doesn't seem to be nearly as overtly hoppy. While I didn't exactly gulp down my glass at the brewpub, it was no chore whatsoever getting through it. It was a bit hot when I took my first sip, but after 5 minutes in my glass, it was all easy going after that.

I had it on cask at Deschutes PDX and I thought it was sublime. In no hurry to pop a bottle. Maybe if I snag a few more but two minimum go in the cellar.

Twas the first thing I asked ("do you have it on cask?"), but alas it was long since gone.

Otherwise, that's why I picked up a couple extra bottles, as I really want to drink more of it fresh this year. Let me know if you're having problems finding any more Larry (assuming you want some more), and I'll grab as many as you want down here in Eugene.

One of the benefits of living in a craft beer "backwater," is that things like the Abyss stick around for a while in most stores... and typically there's no limit on anything, except for rarities like PtE. :-)

Thanks John. But as I noted, with a little effort I'm confident I'll get a few more.
    Cheers

Whistle stop is doing growler fills of it for $25.99 which is a screaming deal compared to bottle price, but who can drink 64oz of Abyss in a sitting haha.

Total Wine and more in Bellevue has them for $12.99 but bottle limit of 1 per person. They still have lots of Dbl Bastard, Victory at Sea, Men's Room Black, Racer X...that place is going to be the end of me...
