So a local beer shop that I frequent has some Peche Mortel that's from 2011 the earliest, maybe 2012. I was wondering if this beer is actually worth it at this stage?

I have some 11/12 in the basement. I'll update you when I bust one out. Should be within the next weeks.

I was super disappointed drinking a '12 recently. Maybe after several years it just turns into something completely different but the bold fresh flavours definitely fade

I prefer it fresh. 12 still great. 11 good but a bit too mellow for my liking.

Love Peche fresh, aged some of the flavors fade. Had '11 on draft a few months ago in VT- was pretty good but the coffee had faded considerably, was still super smooth though. Had a similar experience with a 2-3 year old bottle last year... Had an unlabeled bomber at Lord Hobo last year that was supposedly from '02 which was a completely different experience though. Blew my mind how much coffee it still had while having a balanced dark fruit taste and not being overly oxidized.

I drank a 2003 that had been kept at 50 degrees the whole time not too long ago. coffee is still very prominent, still amazing

Had a side-by-side between fresh and 2 yrs and they were quite similar, not much development (good or bad)

Had a 2010 last weekend still really good, not as good a fresh. Coffee faded almost completley but still a treat to drink.

I came to this thread to reference this bottle specifically as you all were kind enough to share some with me. The bottle wasn't unlabeled, but most of the label was missing...and it did have part of a 3F label on it as well since it was acquired from a cooler filled with ice/water.

2002 was the only year that it was bottled in a 22 oz. format.

I think it's all about storage with beers like this and Daniel does it as well as anyone.

It was shocking how much coffee flavor was left in this bottle. Had Daniel not told us the story behind it, I would have expected it to be no more than a year old.

How can you tell the year? Drinking a bottle right now and it has the tick marks on the side, two sets numbered 0 through 9 and both are notched between the 4 and the 5. Any help?

I messaged Dieu du Ciel previously and looks like you have batch 45 released in the US, which would be March, 2012 bottlling. I haven't seen anything public on their batch numbers, so it is probably just best to reach out to them directly.

I had a roughly 2 year old bottle that tasted like stale, weak coffee. Think McDonald's. Old coffee beers tend to take on this characteristic flavor. No thanks.
