What was your first craft beer?

Started with Newcastle, then to Spaten Optimator.

My first "real craft beer" was a bomber of '10 Abyss.
I haven't looked back since

 

Boston Lager...... Still enjoy a cold draft of it once in awhile in the sam adams pint glass at restaurants!

My Dad worked for Jos. Huber Brewery in Monroe, WI for years, so I grew up around (and drank) a lot of their stuff *shudder*. I remember bringing a six pack of Anchor Steam to a family dinner one night. Dad called me a *****. I guess that was the beginning!

My first craft beer was lost coast tangerine wheat, but the first beer that fully converted me into a craft beer was duvel.

 

It was probably either Sam Adams Boston Lager, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, or New Belgium Fat Tire (whatever they had at the clubhouse after a round of golf). I didn't know the term craft beer existed back then, but I know I had all three before I became interested in craft beers, but which came first, that I don't know...

 

It was Sam Adams Octoberfest. It was my "gateway drug" and awakened me to the fact that all beers didn't have to taste the same and have no character. I swear it doesn't taste as good as it used to. Still love the style though.

 

Sierra Nevada Bigfoot. 1988/89. My friend and I both did a spit take right in my kitchen all over the sink and floor. LOL! We thought it had gone bad or something! If I'd only understood then what I know now... Jeez. I think we went straight out and grabbed a couple 40's of Crazy Horse malt liquor at 7-11 right after and said "Now that's more like it!"

 

Sam Adams Cherry Wheat and it was disgusting. Last time I had it like a year ago it was much better but not sure if I would like it today.

 

I think it was either Widmer Hef or Dead guy

 

Jai Alai was my first "craft beer"... Before that I never really enjoyed anything other the generic big brand of beers. Now I'm obsessed with craft beer, and wouldn't drink a bud light if you paid me

 

heady topper, darkness, bcbs, pliny, kern citra. bought them all from the store on my 21st birthday and poured them into a punch bowl. served in red cups

 

SA Boston Lager. It's what my dad drinks, so it's what was there when I reached the age of "ooh, let's steal beers out of the fridge! "

 

Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout. Not sure if that counts but I've loved it ever since I've tried it.
