Sam Adams Cream Stout. I had others before it, but it really opened my eyes to the variety and made me seek others out.

I had random beers from local breweries like Silver City and Mudshark when I turned 21, before we moved overseas, to Belgium. But it was a Stone Smoked Porter someone gave me before they moved back the states that they'd acquired through a trade on BA that hooked me onto American craft beers. 3 months later when we moved back to the states I immediately fell in love with Stone, DFH, and Sierra Nevada.

Started with bells 2 hearted. Hated. Did not like IPAs to start so went to a local restaurant in Columbus where they had thirsty dog barrel aged Siberian night. Fell in love and tons of money later. I love my hobby.

I'd have to go with a more old-school definition and just list my first non-industrial pale lagers-
    Guinness Extra Stout
    Aass Bock
plus any number of German Pilsners, Dunkels, O'fests

it's hard to say which one came first, though, but they definitely set the craving in motion.
