There was only one pack of Overrated left in the local Binny's cooler by 5pm. I've had it a few times so I left it for someone else. Everything else seemed well stocked.

Enjoying a 10 day old Furious now. So good.

Was that the Highland Park Binny's by chance? I'm the beer manager and had to leave early today - I told the guys to keep an eye on the Surly, but it's possible you hit between their sweeps of the cooler. We got *plenty* of Overrated, as well as the rest of their brews.

It was Buffalo Grove. Good to know though. Definitely need to get some at some point.

At that rate, it'll take a while to offset the price of 2+ tanks of gas for the Chicago to Minneapolis roundtrip. Then again, Surly introduced me to the Twin Cities and I must say it's a fine place to visit again and again. Can't wait for that destination brewery to open, but I'll probably never need to make another hasty Surdyk's or Zipp's run on a Saturday night when I remember yet again that there are no Sunday sales!

That is LESS than I pay here in MN actually, not more. Prices vary all over Minneapolis from the cities to the suburbs. I've seen Abrasive from $15.99 to $19.99 just the last few days. I've never seen Overrated here for $10.99, thats crazy.

    Thanks for the info

Did you throw a GPS Tracker on the Truck? Maybe grabbed the License Plate #? His Mothers Maiden Name?
Even a tips on contorting yourself to fit into an empty case of beer with an offer to sneak you in for a $20?
Not even an offer to go all oceans 12 on the place?

Anything that will help me avoid Binnys on Black friday?

Enjoying the Furious picked up at Whole foods today. 'Hard to live up to the hype. Very good. For the price I'm not sure how often this will grace the fridge, tho

And it'll be sitting near $9/10.99 six-packs of Revolution no doubt.
I gotta say that when it comes to pricing I'm definitely the Negative Nelly of the Great Lakes and I'm comfy with that. With that noted: I like/d Surly beers a lot. Coffee Bender is one of the best beers I've ever had but pricing being what it is I highly doubt I'll grab their stuff... besides sporadically on draft I suppose.

Just a little update on the canning dates from what I picked up at Plainfield Binnys last night:
    Coffee Bender and OverRated: 11/13
Furious: no canning dates (looked at about 4-5 different 4packs)

Didn't buy but checked out of curiosity (don't remember the exact dates) :
    Bender: Early November
Cynic/Hell: 10/16ish give or take a couple days

I felt like the milk maids in Clerks checking all the dates. I was that guy.

I had dates on everything I bought and the oldest date was 10/31 for overrated and the latest date was 11/13 for coffee bender. Furious was in between those two.

What? You think Overrated at $10.99 plus tax is a steal in Minneapolis? I understand it's not terrible if you're in Chicago, but...

Hey, I mean, I'll gladly sell you multiple cases of it for that price.

Don't go out of your way for the places serving "Dumpster Fire" on tap. That stuff is a huge drain pour. I think they have been doing A LOT of different beers that are tap only to see what people like so that maybe they will can it once the big brewery opens in a year or two. Surly is a little premature in getting out of MN when they can't supply us here.

Looking at the picture above all the Surly is out of a fridge. Surly won't let shops sell their products in Minnesota unless it is refrigerated. 99.999% of the places that are allowed to carry it have it in the fridge here. So many stores want to sell Surly here so nobody wants to take the chance I guess.

Odd thing is nobody can buy a keg of Surly unless they are a bar or maybe know someone at the brewery. I've never heard of anybody getting a personal keg.

Forgive me if this has already been covered, but is Abrasive going to be available in Chicago, and if so, when?

    Thanks...

I drank a Furious at SmallBar Logan Square last night. Very happy to see that Surly was underselling their local presence when they first announced the news.
