Picked up a Unicorn Galaxy out in the burbs today. Be on the lookout. There's 4 batch numbers on the bottle so there should be a good amount around.

I've yet to try any HT or PtE, but have tried, many ninjas by Pipeworks and think they are the best I've tried. Saying that, how do the ninjas and unicorns compare to the "world class" DIPA?

Not much compares to HT, so that's not fair to compare.

They're very good and local, so keep drinkin' 'em.

Eh. I brought home a fresh case and a half of HT from the brewery summer 2012, and prefer N v. U and every Ninja variant I've had since to the Heady.

pipeworks makes great ipas, but heady really is something else and, unbelieveably, is worth the hype.

Agreed. Heady is fantastic and absolutely worth the hype. Only other IPA/DIPA I've had that compares in my opinion is OTWOA.

NvU is in the same conversation as heady.

I disagree. Though Ninja Vs. Unicron (intentional misspelling) is good its cost is out-of-whack. Heady is usually $15.99 a 4-pack while NvU would be around $31.97... I can think of VERY few beers that are THAT good.

Price is a different discussion, 90% of imperial stouts/IPAs are in bombers. Ive had very few very good imperial IPAs in a 4 or 6 pack. Heady, Hopslam, dirtwolf, Abrasive, the list is very short. The sad reality is that you end up paying 2x per oz for a bomber compared to a 4 pack. But if you stick with that thought, every single Bourbon stout is priced out-of-wack when you consider the price of a Bourbon County 4-pack.

Anybody notice that the "Ninja" beers label changed beyond just the name? Appears to be a lady now. Is this Kate? I didn't notice when I picked up the cascade and centennial but i did last night. I was like, wait a second...

I would very much be interested in a Ninja vs. Unicron. Perhaps get Orson Welles' face on there too...or at the very least John Noble.
