it had just been delivered, they were clearing space for it in the cooler.

I assumed Surly's products are similar to the bus in Speed. Do not let that beer dip below 40 degrees!

The Binny's I got mine at kept it in a walk in cooler, so here's to Des Plaines following protocol.

As did Schaumburg. I bought some Furious yesterday. Ran into @Coirm there as well.

That's how bad this didn't sell in Minnesota this year, they're giving us wet hop beers that are a couple months old. This years version of wet is my least favorite of any other year. It's not bad but not worth the price point IMO.

    3 Questions for ya:
    1)Where did you get this?
    2)How much?
    3)Canning date?

I'd be skeptical that any Wet made it to IL other than from trades. I agree this years batch was nowhere near what's it's been in the past, but there was a very limited amount and it still flew off the shelves.

Just cracked open a Coffee Bender and Over Rated:

Coffee Bender: If this is a brown ale, this is easily the best one I've ever had. Amazing how much coffee flavor is in this beer, good stuff.
Overrated: Damn fine stuff here, and as good as the majority of real west coast ipa's I've had.

Can't wait for Abrasive and Darkness to hopefully make their way here.

I wouldn't think any Wet got down there. I'd be really surprised. It may not have been as good as past years but it was harder to find and a one 4/pack limit. It was on most shelves for maybe a couple days and then no more for us up here. Trust me lot's of us would have bought more. You would be more likely to get Abrasive than Wet and Abrasive has been selling out pretty quick in most places. For some reason I don't think Abrasive will make it down there in cans but I wouldn't doubt you may see some kegs at tap takeovers.

Jesus. It's good but c'mon. If it ends up being $17.99 down here, everyone else can have it.

If everything is a couple more dollars than in Mpls, I think there's a good chance that'll happen. The absolute lowest price around here is $14.99, but $15.99 is the norm and $16.99 is still within the realm of reason

Sorry, I meant to say Overrated. I don't know why I said Wet.

This is what I pay in SE MN. I'd buy more if I was getting it at Twin Cities prices.

At the risk of getting piled on, so far Surly is not living up to the hype for me. While I thought Furious was okay I probably won't be getting any more of it. I definitely prefer Two-Hearted, Centennial, 60-Min and Sculpin.

Did not like Coffee Bender at all. Going to be trading the other 3 of these to drinkin' buddies. Tasted too much like straight up coffee to me -- take that with a grain of salt though as I'm not a coffee drinker (I must need more ABV because I do really enjoy coffee stouts, etc.)

If you see Darkness bottles they will be no less than $20 each. Anniversary bottles are a little more than that usually.

Funny. Love Furious, don't care much for those other four.

I'll agree though, Coffee Bender doesn't do much for me. It's basically iced coffee at 5% ABV.

Don't get me wrong, I like Surly and am glad they are here in MN. But Surly is the master of the hype machine. They took to social media and have used it extremely well.

I actually prefer just regular old Bender. It is not just you with the Coffee Bender, it taste like coffee. It seems like a love it or hate it. I also love Cynic, probably my favorite regular of theirs.

Not sure if Chicago is going to Abrasive, but if you can get it, give it a whirl. They really need to make it a year round beer, hopefully once the new brewery opens.

I am the same with you. Don't care for those four. Love Furious as well. I have not had Bender or the Coffee variation yet. I think I'll just get the regular and try CynicAle as well.

So far, I really enjoy Hell and Furious.

Just giving this thread a little bump but a friend of mine picked up some Surly Smoke at Woodmans yesterday so be on the lookout if you're a fan of this brew. Hopefully some other seasonals and specialty beers to follow.
