Any idea where I might be able to find it nearby, preferably within MD? Max's just tweeted they have bottles, but they are only selling whole bottles currently.

C'mon Gillis, you can pick up a bottle for a mere $260 at College Square in Westminster. Shit that covers 2 days bar tab at 72 hrs, think I'll save it to waste on a bunch of killer beer in Feb. I know it's been 11 yrs but wasn't this beer like $150 a bottle when it first came out. I think the current bottle is bigger but that's some inflation.

Yeah, I can't wait for 72 Hour Sour. I don't want to buy a bottle of it, just get a small pour. You get down here to try all the Mikkeller last week? There was some great stuff.

You can pick up a bottle at Goldberg's in Brooklyn Park for $229, but you would have to unlock your doors and get out of your car to do so...up to you.

Did you go try it? If so how much, what year of vintage and where at? Thanks.

No, I didn't. I'm not that good at getting down to DC and dealing with all that (yes, I know public transportation, but still). It is $25 for a 1.5 oz. pour of 2013 Utopias at Churchkey.

There are plenty of other ways I'd rather spend $25 at Churchkey. And if I were to spend that on a shots worth there are some bars with good whiskey lists I wouldn't mind spending that money at.

Pizzeria Paradiso Georgetown has the Utopias 10th anniversary for 25 a pour.

Is $25 for 1.5 ounces normal for this? I mean, everything about Utopias is absurd, so I guess it's expected, but I just don't get it. It can't possibly be that good. Can it?

That's what it costs in the DC metro area.. it's whatever you think it's worth.

It's pretty much impossible to find a bar anywhere that will charge $25 for a pour from a bottle of whiskey that retails for ~$200. Usually it would be $40 or $50. $25 is a pretty standard price at a bar for whiskeys in the $100 range. So from that standpoint, Utopias at Churchkey is a great bargain.

Very fair point. Just a personal preference I guess.

I've been debating picking one up and charging ~$20/2oz. at my shares to recoup some of the costs and leave maybe half of it for myself.

I hear ya. I bought a Utopias pour once to try it, at Churchkey. It was worth the expenditure once to try it, but probably not worth it again.
