Not exactly. See New Belgium's Story on their website. She's certainly sustained a booming business, even if she didn't explicitly start it by herself.

LOL. I talk to them. They aren't buying it for men. Grow up.

sidenote: My sister who works at Crescent Moon could school 95% of the people in this thread (and big shocker to you all stuck in the 1950's, she isn't the only women there that could do that).

My fiancee @Kword55 is in the wine industry but her love and excitement around craft beer has really taken her to the next level in the culture.

I recently heard Greg Koch (of Stone Brewery) speaking at GABF about the fact that women's palettes are more sensitive than men's palettes...I really wonder how this plays into our different perceptions of craft beer...

That, and a good deal of the male attendees are bepretzeled, lederhosened, drunk as coots, and otherwise oddly strange drinking as much beer as possible amidst breaking glasses and ambulatory distress.

So true. My wife buys beer for me all the time, but doesn't drink at all.

You go girl! My wife got started the same way. Kids all turned legal age and started taking us to the local craft beer bar. She has been hooked ever since.

Thread was TLDR for me, but I think the female craft beer drinkers around here are the same as the male craft beer drinkers around here, in other words, beer drinkers. Most guys around here drink "craft", they just don't come to nerd sites like this. Same with the distaff side. Craft beer is just ingrained in our lifestyles around here, that we're a bit surprised when someone, M or F, orders a BMC product.

That's cool... to be from a place where craft is more regularly ordered than BMC

It's great to see more women getting into craft beer, not only as enthusiasts but also as brewmasters. My fiancee enjoys trying new craft beers with me, going on brewery tours, and we often write our reviews together. I notice that there are different flavours that she picks up on her palate that I would never have detected, so I always welcome her feedback.

My fiance's favorite beer before she met me was blue moon. Now its Firestone Walker Solace. I consider that good progress

My wife loves wine and cares not for beer.

She watches me with a radiant and loving smile as I "Ooo" and " Ahhh" and get all wiggly drinking and swirling a great ale. Yes, I have no shame.

If she loved great beer as much as I do we'd probably be living in a box under an overpass.

I see a lot of women at craft beer bars. Not sure what they drink but I'm sure a little of everything. I'd also say that about a fifth of the people scouring the craft beer isles are also women. Not a bad percentage.

My girlfriend on the other hand has only enjoyed a handful of craft beers. She hates hoppy beers, doesn't like coffee/licorice flavors so doesn't like imperial stouts or anything of the sort. She prefers light creamy stouts like Velvet Merlin and Left Hand Milk Stout. Though she also enjoys some sours, SOME. What was cool is she loved the hell out of Duck Duck Gooze!

I'm sorry but drunk girls dancing on bars is part of American culture and a part I really love.

I have been in the industry for years, originally running and operating different types of bars, then in the wholesale beer and wine business. I would never have let a drunk girl get up and dance on the bar. It's most certainly illegal, dangerous, and downright stupid. Most often, the only likely fools to try to get on the bar were very drunk guys that I would usher out with or without their consent.

Fact: Women are beautiful and they all contribute to making men stupid merely by existing. Thank God they tolerate most stupid men and use their super powers mostly for good. I love that more and more women are seriously drinking quality beer with us knuckle-draggers.

Also, NEVER let a drunk woman dance on a bar. Verily I say yee must protect the very few weak women and above all...listen to 99.6% of them. Especially to their comments on great ale, which are always spot on in my experience.

    : )
