I just don't get why people think City Beer's prices are so outrageous. I was there last night. Most everything in the regular coolers was priced at pretty much the same price I see everywhere else in SF or the east bay (if not cheaper for some things).

Prices on bottles as I recall when I was there was...

    $90 Lou pepe
    $60 temptation b4
    $75 wanderer
    $50-60? 2010 abyss

If that's outrageous to you then I need your job.

I agree with you most of their shelf stuff isn't too bad on the price, maybe a dollar or 2 more. The rare stuff is where they **** you, and with GI vintage stuff I can only imagine what it will be

This is also the store that jacked the price on Framboise for a Cure when they were specifically instructed not to by Russian River. Even if Goose Island sets a specific price, I wouldn't put it past them to bump that up even more.

So will they have Red Barn or not ? Why is everyone talking about BCBS, is that good ? How does it compare to Cranbrrrrrita ?

Russian River instructs every store not to jack the price on pain of stopping distribution. Most of them do it anyways, of course, since Russian River doesn't have a compliance squad.

I once saw the Firestone Walker compliance squad, it was really awkward.

Yeah, but none of those other bottles are for charity.

RR really should have a compliance squad; there's apparently a 2+ year waiting list to get on their distribution list, and places that have been on there for years can't get enough kegs. (E.g., Bobby G's here in Berkeley is the only keg account in the city AFAIK, and they can only get two kegs of Pliny a week, enough to last about three days. They'd keep it on all week if they could.)

I'm not sure how that makes a material difference.

    Back to BCBS:

A member of a brew club I am in saw four packs for sale at Bevmo in Mira Loma. Called my local Bevmo in Lake Forest and they refused to sell them per Goose Island's Instructions to hold for Black Friday. Looks like this beer is going to be all over socal now.

I just went (2 hours ago) to the Lake Forest Bemvo and are cases sitting on the floor. The top one was already opened, so I grabbed 2 four packs and checked out with no problem.

LOL...just went to the store and was told "this was a VERY misinformed employee who sold it. We can get fired of we sell it"

Haha, it was worth a shot. I never come to this store because the people there are dummies.

Sure was, the girl who rang it up just thought it was expensive but didn't know what it was. It is there fault for leaving the open box on the floor with half the 4 packs goon. Good luck on Friday.

12.99 a bottle then, and you have to buy at least $50 of his regular items.

I see the Red Barn joke all of the time here. What's the origin?
