Now we'll start selecting the grains/fermentables. Pour yourself a beer...this may take a while.

This question will be handled a little differently. You can select more than one choice. The #1 overall choice will be automatically in. Beyond that, any other choices that get votes from at least 30% of respondents will advance to a future poll to determine exact combinations in/out. If less than 3 (beyond the top pick) get votes from at least 30% of respondents, three will advance to the combinations poll. There will also be polls to select specific varieties of grains that get in. This is similar to the way we did it for the IPA. And, as with the IPA, if there's a groundswell of write-ins for anything not on the list, that will also advance to a combination poll.

I recommend you think about this in terms of not only your personal preferences, but also in terms of a 6.5% ABV beer finishing at 1.018 FG.

This poll will be open for 48 hours.

I did base malt, munich, crystal, and roasted grains. Simple, a good base, and then play with the complexity from dark grain combos and some crystal. No more 48 hour polls though, I wanna drink this by Christmas!

I picked base malts (2-row etc), munich et al, non-carapils crystals, black/roasted barley etc, and oatmeal. Gotta have the oatmeal, so you can chew your beer and drink it too. :grinning:

I'm in the PRO-oatmeal lobby! Vote FOR oatmeal!!!

Better yet, we'll just add draconian voter ID laws for all the NON-oatmeal voting districts. :grimacing:

I did not vote for oatmeal, but then immediately thought, no, I want oatmeal in there after submitting. @VikeMan please count this as a right in for another oatmeal along with my previous vote (and no, this is not me succumbing to pressure, the oatmeal in my Imperial Stout is amazing).

So oatmeal as an ingredient does not mean it is an oatmeal stout. How about lactose? I would lose some crystal malt in exchange for that.

So it would, and with a whopping zero votes so far. I doubt my write-in would tip the scales.
