Interesting location; looks like the old Copper Tank spot.

Could very well be. The Copper Tank was in 2600 Main St (on the corner) and the location of BrainDead was listed as "the 2600 block" so it wasn't quite specific enough. I imagine it's probably public record somewhere though.

Congrats to Jeff, Sam and Drew!

The location is near Twisted Root in Deep Ellum. Close to DEBC.....

I hope their beers are higher quality than DEBC.

... you know that Drew was the head brewer for DEBC...

Yeah Early DEBC IPA, Dreamcrusher, Pollenator, Wealth & Taste, they were just horrible huh? DEBC had consistency issues and some of the beers weren't great, but overall the brews Drew put out were solid. DEBC hate seems to be the chic thing now.

This thread is not about DEBC, it is about our hope and excitement from things to come from BrainDead. All three of these guys have a long track record and exposure to beer from both the production side and the service industry side.

DEBC is the BA equivalent of Dogfish Head in Texas...

... ... except their core beers aren't nearly as good as Dogfish Head.

Good to hear Dallas is getting a new brewery!

That's why I made the comment. I hope the beers at BrainDead do not suffer from the same low quality as DEBC beers.

If by chic you mean honest and fair then yes, I guess it is quite chic. It's not like people are hating just to hate. Everybody I have heard criticize DEBC has had very specific and legitimate reasons for it. I might agree with you that the criticism is more pronounced for DEBC above others but the prime reason why that is the case is because the owners do so much to invite it. That's not the fault of those who criticize DEBC. It's the fault of the owners themselves.

At any rate, I did not intend for my comment to turn this into a DEBC thread. I look forward to BrainDead's opening and hope their beers are delicious.

"This summer"... they're having issues with the city and approvals and stuff like that.

So...like...everyone who deals with TABC and cities.

Whatever time frame ANY breweries gives you on opening, add at least 3 months for "unforeseen circumstances" or "delays in permitting." Every brewery ends up with those issues and is pretty much a guarantee at this point.
