The Abyss 2013 - LA/OC Sightings

Haven't seen it yet. Asked about it at a bottle shop today, they confirmed they'll be getting it this week. They also confirmed bcbs, bcbcs, and Bourbon County barleywine for this Friday. The shop isn't quite in the valley or hollywood but close enough.

 

Anyone got a bevmo sku I can search to check my local shops? I remember this worked last year and usually works for parabola/sucaba too.

 

Total Wine - Tustin has restocked as of 11AM.

 

Just got word from Deschutes that OC/LA is getting another pallet (75 cases) to split. San Diego is also getting another pallet as well. Christmas came early.

 

Has anybody in SD actually found Abyss? No where I've gone has seen it

 

I haven't seen any Abyss at all in LA.

 

I heard Northridge TW will be getting a shipment but no guarantees. I had my cousin pick the last one in Tustin a couple of days ago

We do a very small portion of LA ... Another couple distributors handle most of LA. I think the distributors that handle downtown and surrounding areas have not gotten their allocations yet. Were Deschutes biggest distributor so we were offered another 150 cases before anyone else. 75 will be split between OC/LA area and the other 75 will be in SD. My rep is supposed to get me a case. I hope he comes through.

 

Abyss is so hard to get if you don't live in OC
i notice that in Texas my buddy got a case and we have not saw any in the Los Angeles area at all
it weird that everywhere see it except the Los Angeles area gets NONE

i saw two cases last night at the beverly hills vendome

 

I was there last night, around 8:30 PM, and the two boxes on the floor were empty

I asked the clerk if there was any Abyss left and he said, let me check. He walked to the back and came out with about 8 bottles, I took two.

 

Distro gets worse each year. It seems like 7elevens in SD get them and legit bottle shops in Riverside and San Bernardino county get hosed.

 

There isnt one 7-11 in southern california that got a case of Abyss ... Deschutes has opened up to more area across the US and with more area means allocations get less and less. We already have a list from the brewery rep before the cases are in our warehouse of where they are supposed to go ... Not to mention that craft beer sales in general has been going up in the triple digits every year. Go back to 4 years ago when the Abyss was sitting on shelves for 4-5 months or so after it hit.

 

Whole Foods on Fairfax has a bunch of Abyss.

 

Thanks for the heads up iHia , but that was the point of my post. Areas like LA and San Diego aren't convenient for me to make trips and buy beer. Yet bottles sit on the shelf at Whole Foods while shops around my area receive one case. These stores must have been allowed pallets before distribution reduced allocations. Bottles now only sit around for one to two months.
