I'll spend a bit of time in both Houston and Austin, so we're in luck.

So, I get that Spec's has tweeted that only BCBS will be available because the other Bourbon County products have not been approved yet by TABC. But doesn't it seem a bit strange that one of four nationwide locations selected to host a launch event/tapping party/whatever you want to call it would be in a state where only one - and the most pedestrian - Bourbon County product can be sold?

Contrast the San Francisco event - at City Beer Store - where they are going to be selling BCBVS, Rare, King Henry, '12 BCBCS, and Cherry Rye in addition to the 2013 lineup. And you're telling me that Goose (and Inbev) is content with one of the four flagship release locations trotting out 100 snifters and regular Bourbon County and calling it a day? Doesn't quite add up, is all I'm saying. Would be interested to hear any comments or bits of knowledge, either publicly or privately.

Full disclosure: I'll be in D/FW, so no need for Austinites to worry about me cramping your style.

Also, are any BCBx releases going on in the D/FW area? I haven't seen anything in this thread so far, but I suppose I could have missed it.

Anyone seen Abyss (or know when Abyss is dropping) in ATX? I'll be leaving town tomorrow and won't be back until Saturday morning (heading to a beer wasteland).

For what its worth I talked to the guys at Sunrise on Monday and they told me sometime this week and 30 cases for Austin.

Maybe! Two bottles accounted for; and not really sure what I'll do with the third? Depends on whether I can get any on tap around here, because I haven't had it yet.

If this is true, every store will be able to, because this means it's approved and anyone can sell.

    Care to cite sources?

OK, good. This is a starting point for some discourse.

Someone who is more educated than myself, please answer me: how can WF sell these if they are not TABC approved?

My guess is either they are TABC approved or WF still thinks they're getting them and hasn't heard that there may be an issue.

Have you heard confirmation of this recently? Or just from the original press release?

As mentioned before, they won't really know until the truck shows up, and even then, they might have the beer and not be able to sell it.

So I have seen some posts about 512 five hitting the streets today. Anybody seen any?

The truck will be there tomorrow. Once it arrives I'll report the news. The beer dude is supposed to email me. Right now all he could say was none of the new stuff has been TABC approved and will only be selling BCBS 4-Packs along with Cherry Rye and Coffee (bombers), not even the new stuff.
