Looks like COAST just tapped their first keg of 2013 Barrel Aged Blackbeerd. Currently on tap at the brewery, pints only, no growlers or bottles yet. Supposed to be bottled next week. This years batch aged 1 year in 2nd use Blanton's barrels. Can't wait to get a hold of some bottles. Last years batch is on my short list as one of my favorite stouts of all time!

Actually, it's the Blanton's from.last year, but it was barrel aged twice. Went by and had a pint today, it was great, as usual.

Excited, whats the typical distro on this. I landed a bottle of last years in a trade at brewvival.

Sorry if my earlier post came off as douchey. I'm not douchey, just typed it on a douchey phone.

Gotcha, Limits? Price? Does it last more than a day?

Not sure about this time around, but last time bottles were $15, a case limit (I think), and bottles lasted a couple of weeks. Not sure how much was made of this one though. That was the one question I forgot to ask. I was amazed at all the progress they've had around there, reminisced about the beginning of the brewery.

Couple of cases made it out of the brewery last year. One made it the whole way to Rock Hill in fact.

Just read up on it, the original post was correct. For some reason, I was told a while back, it was going to be double barrel aged. Oh well, still really good.

oh for sure the brewery is the best bet either way, especially since most of the other places likely had a one per person limit

Really, Im surprised. Didnt realize any of it made it out of the brewery to distro.

Limits wise, I dont remember, it may have been a case. In terms of amount made this year, since they used the same barrels as last year one would assume it would be the same bottle count. Unfortunately, I dont remember how many that was. I know it was not enough to satisfy my fix for the entire year.

Last year, it seemed to be on tap at Sesame for like a month. I probably consumed about 10 pints there.

Braved the monsoon last night to go to the brewery, and the Blackbeerd is phenomenal. Since it's the second use for these barrels, the bourbon doesn't overwhelm and slap you, but the oak and subtle whiskey undertones make it extremely drinkable. Fantastic. I only had one, though, as it was treacherous enough to drive in that mess sober, and had a Stand Up Stout, which was excellent as well.
Looking forward to getting a bottle or three.

Hell I think I had one at sesame and Raver knows I never get out of the house so that says something

Actually they sent 20 cases (out of 70) to stores (unnamed)... I'd imagine your typical locals - CBX, Bottles, TW, etc...

I bought 2 bottles last year at Growlers on Hilton Head Island (bottles with black wax).
