Looks like Todd and I will be in Richmond, VA in January. Already have Hardywood and Mekong on the list ... give me two more places that are an absolute must.

    Thanks,

Second the recommendation of Center of the Universe in Ashland VA. Solid up and coming brewery.

Another vote for Strangeways, but make sure you save Mekong for last...cause you will get "Konged"

Center of the Universe and Strangeways. Once Upon a Vine and Corks&Kegs are both good bottle shops worth checking out.

yeah, if you go to EBs, make sure it's the Midlothian location (the brewpub). the Broad St location can't sell it's own beers (silly VA ABC laws...)

Joe's Inn N. Shields and Chiocca's on N. Belmont are great old institutions in Richmond. I went to both as a freshman at U Of R many moons ago. I know that Joe's has kept up with beer and that Chiocca's makes great sandwiches. Maybe good for lunch.

I would second (third) visiting Center of the Universe. A great brewery and the staff is very nice. Hence the avatar!

Unfortunately we aren't going that way ... coming from DFH. Do your beers make it out to Richmond?

We usually don't hit up beer stores as we almost never take anything back home do to always carrying on our bags.

If you are looking for stuff in the city Isley Brewing just opened up in Scott's Addition (about 5 minutes from Strangeways). Also, Once Upon a Vine is a pretty good bottleshop in northside.

Ifff you cant make it out to COTU or Extra Billy's, I know An can get some Extra Billy's and COTU beers on draft for your visit. The Citra Ass Down from EB's is really something.
