Anyone know if or where this might be released on eastern LI. Or any good bottle shops out here and what might be on the shelves. Riverhead area or further out on north fork.

    Thanks

Am I missing something with the hype across country with this release? If I recall this stuff was abundant on Long Island last time. When was it released last time? Was it a year ago already?

Good questions. There is so much contrary information out there.

It def hit LI earlier November last year (the regular did), i think the coffee and cherry rye came later (the first shipment of them)

seems like coffee is the toughest. every store you call has a different story depending on when you call them so at this point...looks like free-for-all - apparently some stores have it, others are saying next week. so pretty much be on the look out from now until april

Can I point out how not fun this is? I have only started really getting into this over the last several months, not sure how much longer I will last. The availability factor is really starting to drive my decision making on what to buy.

first off...welcome to this wonderful "hobby" which despite what it may appear like when it comes to hunting this stuff down...is actually very giving and friendly and community based.

now that the warm fuzzy is out of the way - damn you!!! that's all we need...more competition for these limited precious bottles of AB swill. but on a serious note, it wasn't always like this...i peg it down to BCBVS as being the first release that you really had to "work" to get even a single bottle of. since then it has gotten progressively more competitive as the casual hobbyists start getting into trading and hoarding. my local store that i used to throw all of my business to, now has a "list" that is so long that whenever i hear about a release, i'm already 20 or 30 deep on the list so they don't call me (and as a result, they don't get my business anymore - oh well).

the good news is that NY distro is great...and only getting better. there is plenty of amazing fresh great beers coming into town all of the time and plenty of regulars that are sitting on the shelf that you can explore while avoiding getting wrapped up in the hype. best advise i can give you is to find other locals (like myself) who are into beer and get together for tastings. tastings lately have become whalefests, but they don't have to be, a mellow tasting can be put together where there is no pressure on what to bring (i love drinking down what i have and sharing and am always looking for thirsty people) and you can start to explore what is out there either locally available or not. don't let these limited releases get you down...they suck, but if we ban together geographically...at worst, we'll all get to try everything.

To echo cosmicevan's sentimets, the laws of supply and demand have been less and less on the supply side ever since I got into this fine hobby many moons ago. It's all about being in the right place at the right time lately and for most of us who have a life that place is probably unattainable. That said, NY being such a great distribution that it is you will probably end up getting an 8oz on draft of something you could not obtain in a bottle sooner rather than later. And most certainly, NY has a fine group of BAs who are always up for a mellow tasting of sorts. As such, always ISO a mellow tasting get together with local BAs  Happy hunting.
