Yep, my current Sculpin says 13288. Not so sure if it means what I thought it meant because I saw some other ones today that were a number >366

When it doesn't say "Bottled on" or "Best by", sometimes I don't know if it's Julian code or some other number like batch number, fermenter number, product code etc.
Doesn't help that a lot of breweries use dark ink on amber bottles, which I don't get.
"Best by" is also kind of annoying, but I see how it's more helpful to the average consumer.
Edit: @gatornation care to weigh in on my post?

Ballast Point should be reading this thread so they can so how the confusion over dates is having a negative impact on their sales, especially since this beer is best fresh.

So, are you current ones cans or bottles? Does it look like this one?

Currently I have cans at home. The bottles I saw at store today looked like the one you posted, to my memory. I bought BIG EYE today instead but in hindsight I wish I had taken a photo of the code I read.

Because they keep changing it. New labels, bottles, cans, 3 months, 6 months, there is no consistency.

It is, assuming the numbers don't go about 356 or 357. I'm fairly certain I saw that today at the store which is why I posted above in this thread.

*note: meant 356 above in other posts. a few IPA's can have an impact on attention to detail.

Uggh, I have no idea then. Bottles you saw have a date in future.

I also think he is looking at the wrong line. The first set of numbers on mine is SC358. I assume that is either a batch code or fill line, etc.

    Nothing worse than old Scuplin.

Agreed. First time I had it was real fresh and I really enjoyed it. A few weeks later I stopped at a place and bought. After I got home and tried it, I was surprised that it was not the same. Checked the bottle...130 days old. Not the same.

One of the fastest beers to go bad- there is nothing for the oxidizing/skunking/hop breakdown flavors to hide behind. The malt bill is built for alcohol w/ very little left behind for body/malt flavor. Fresh, it is an incredible beer. Cans do help maintain freshness a bit.

He is not. I just picked up a six pack coded as 13395. Guessing the middle digit should have been a 2.

Truth be told, I had a bottle that was five weeks old and it reminded me of a bad homebrew.
