Beer Trade Etiquette

My tip. Try not to do your trades on BA. As far as trade sites, this is the lower rung.

It appears I was wrong...

 

My tips:

• Wrap bottles individually, then tape or band them together so they don't move independently.
• Use rubber bands or scotch brand packing tape. Off brand ruins bubble wrap when you pull it off, Scotch comes off cleanly and allows reuse.
• If taping caps, use electrical tape, at least two go-rounds. Easy to remove, prevents caps from being sharp. Maaaaaaaybe stops leaking.

• Extras are not required. Don't send extras just because others tell you you must. At the same time, I always send extras, because I trade every trade with the hope of it being the start of a trade relationship.
• Try to form long term trade relationships if possible. The best beers I've gotten in trades have been from long term trade partners who just send me stuff they think I'll like.
• If you feel like you got ripped off or a trade didn't go as you wanted, that sucks, but just move on. Don't dwell. Don't trade with that person again but don't let it stop you from trading with others. Most traders are awesome.

I reached out to a guy on another forum for a trade (my first). He replies with "I'm in the beer distro biz...so I can get just about anything in my area."

Bam...

Yes it was an extra he threw in because it's one of his favs...it's in my permanent rotation now...a nice change-up.
