SWTFYW Hints and Hauls!!!

Going to a wedding in Chicago and off to Indiana for the weekend, coming back in on Monday for the Bears/Cowboys MNF game.

 

Any of you nice fellas get an extra backyard?

CT got shut out so far BC they didn't get the labels approved apparently. We did get regular bcbs which is still cool but was hoping for the backyard.

So if you have an extra and wanna trade for something give me a shout. I'll be your best friend

 

You lucky bastards and your Bourbon County hauls - I spent Black Friday crying into a glass of Fantôme Printemps: Band-Aid Special Creation.

 

Been busy with family over the weekend for the holiday but should have the box going out early this week complete with hints.

 

So while I didn't get quite the BCBS Black friday haul that a lot of people have (granted got a little bit so I'm happy) but I gotta call out @richardflyr for making my Black Friday haul amazing. The trade was originally just for the GBS and Cafe Royale. The rest are extras.

This BIF has turned into one of the best things ever. Made multiple new great trading partners (you know who you are/will be) and gotten to try some amazing new beers. Just fantastic. Not to mention the thread is fun to follow.

 

I've been remiss. @Houser posted his haul, but I never posted mine. He played the numbers game on our "box of locals" swap and hit me with volume I've only encountered in one other trade. Here's a haul almost 2 weeks old.

In total, 23 bottles. Damn near a case, most of which are completely new to me. The fact that he was able to keep cross-distro down to a minimum with this quantity is impressive. This BIF has been something special to say the least. The rampant generosity is evident. Well played sirs and ladies.

 

Any of you open any Bourbon County stuff yet from this year? Just cracked my first Barleywine and holy hell is it good.

 

I have cracked a barley wine, regular, and coffee so far. All very good but the reg and barley where too hot for my liking thus far. Coffee was mindblowingly good!! Next weekend we will be cracking open a Proprietor and a backyard.

 

Had two bottles of the regular 13 BCBS over the weekend and I thought it was very good and seemed to be a bit less boozy than I recall last years version being.

 

By the way, based on current shipment speed rates. It appears we're knocking out a target a week for the most part. Given that, this first iteration of BIF w/in a BIF w/in a Box should be done somewhere around May 12, 2014 if we stay at the current pace. Much sooner than my original estimate of August timeframe.

 

Good to know about the coffee, I have two 4-packs (probably keeping one pack for myself and the other will go to a friend who couldn't find any). Let us know how the Proprietor's and Backyard are tasting!

I thought this years bcbs was less hot than 12. But that's just me maybe

 

I just opened my first Barleywine and I can confirm that it is indeed very, very good. Had the regular a few weeks ago and it is also very good. The Backyard I had a couple weeks ago at FoBAB and that beer is mind blowingly good.

 

I agree, the bottle I drank was awesome and much less hot than the fresh one I drank last year. However, I do know there are a couple of different bottling dates/batches out there so maybe one is drinking hotter right now.

 

Yeah, Black Friday was me trekking across the middle of NC only to find 3 4packs of the regular. I guess variants are supposed to land something this week, so fingers crossed!!

Is anyone sitting on a bottle of Founders Doom? I personally wasnt a fan of this beer but my best friend thinks its the greatest beer hes ever had on tap????? Rookies! so yah - if you are like me and dont really care to have it sitting in your cellar and may never drink it - BM me id like to get it for him as a xmas gift.

 

I hope I get it before you so I can RUIN EVERYTHING by sending some of those out.

 

I had it on draft on Saturday night in NYC. Was decent.
