Bay Area Sightings: The Abyss

It pisses me off that the South Bay still hasn't got The Abyss in. I went home to SLO for Thanksgiving, and there were places that got a second distribution of The Abyss last week and were sitting on shelves. I'm not worried for this release in general because I snagged 3 bottles while down there, but it's more concerning that the Bay Areas largest city gets screwed over so consistently. It may have been a beer wasteland in years past, but I think anyone down here would agree that the scene is rapidly expanding, with quite a few quality bottle shops and tons of new beer bars opening. Something has to change (I'm looking at you DBI.)

 

For what its worth, it hasn't hit Los Angeles yet either.

 

Wow that's crazy. I think it's a similar situation with LA, which seems to be growing rapidly in the craft beer world also.

 

So bevmo Camden just got it in. They're charging $20!? I thought bev mo would charge retail? Or did price go up? 1 bottle limit

 

That's definitely high. Most places are charging $14-16.

 

yea earlier in this thread people were saying oakland bev more charging 15.99. I thought all bev mo's charged the same? I feel like i should complain about this.

 

Ouch! Bevmo in Slo was $15, I found at a local shop there for $12. $20 makes no sense.

 

Was $19.99 at my BevMo in LA also. Maybe its something about the ones that received it today?

 

Well, it has aged for two weeks now, so maybe that is why...

 

Picked up 1 bottle at $18.99 and another at $20.99. Heard most stores in San Jose should have it tomorrow.

 

Why are you guys dropping almost $20 on Abyss when BCBS can still be found at $24/4 pack?

I mean, 2013 Abyss is really good stuff, but it's still no BCBS.

 

Where are us there still 4 packs of bcbs in the 408?

 

Whole Foods Blossom Hill may get some soon. If you're willing to drive, BevMo Colma had a bunch as of a couple days ago. Or hit Harry's Hofbrau's release Thursday. Just call around and pay attention - it's out there.

BCBS or Abyss? I checked Whole Foods Cupertino today and they didn't have Abyss yet.

 

BevMo in Livermore has Abyss too. $19.99 I think
