    Bombers and 750's I will always spend 2 - 3 hours enjoying.

The better the beer, the longer it takes (unless you have multiples). You know, because you don't want it to be all gone. It was damn good though.

This. It's not only style and ABV dependent, but also situation dependent. At home, it takes 20-30 minutes but when I'm out at a bar/party standing and chatting, I start taking sips at gaps in the conversation. And, since I need beer in my glass to keep up this knee-jerk reaction, I always grab another as soon as it's empty so I obviously get drunk faster. This is why I only ever get truly drunk when I'm out and about.

I guess that's something like the glass half full/empty situation.

Your logic is "its so good, i dont want it to end, i must savor it" my logic with this is "its so good, i dont want it to end, i cant stop drinking it".

But I get what you're saying, I just know my buddy and I cruised through our BA Ruffian because we liked it so much. It's one of those beers where barrel aging makes a so-so beer, epic. I honestly wasn't expecting a whole lot, especially considering it was my replacement from Great Divide because I had an "infected" BA Yeti, which I had wanted to try for years...

Sadly if I'm having Torpedo, Celebration, Laggies IPA, etc 12 oz pour, it's gone within 10 minutes.
Premium bombers I take it slow and easy to savor the flavor and enjoy the aroma, usually an hour. Can't wait for this evening to relive what I just wrote...

Well, there's no one right way to drink a beer, that's for sure. I really liked both the BA Yeti (not infected) and Old Ruffian, I think the whiskey character is different from most Bourbon-barrel beers. Would still really like to try BA Hibernation.

yea I was going to say it does depend on where you drink. I know that first one at any bar type place its going to go down fast. Especially if its a good 1 time brew at a micro pub tasting room, I want a second one, so that first one will go down like honey dew vine water...I know I drink faster at bars at first always have....

in fact I tend to ignore everything but the beer, lol

Varies widely depending on style, mood, company and location.

I drink a lot faster at a bar with friends or a party than I do at home while watching a movie by myself or with the lady.

I'm only listing the styles I drink with any regularity.

APA, IPA, Belgo, Saison, Berliner Weisse: 5-15 mins.
Stout, Porter, Hefeweizen, Imperial IPA: 10-30 mins.
    Imperial Stout, Barelywine: 20-120 mins.

As long as it lasts! Then I get sad really quickly when it's gone. That being said - generally half hour unless we're talking big Stouts, then it's however freakin long it takes, up to 2 hours for a BCBS or something in that realm. Hate to crush something that I've been looking forward to for so long!!

Depends on how the Bruins, Red Sox or Patriots are playing. The better they play, the slower I drink. The worse they play, the faster I drink.

You guys are crazy! I understand the importance of taking your time, but can you even enjoy a beer that you're drinking slower than it takes my wife to get ready?? Are you taking tiny ballerina sips? I personally enjoy a good SWIG. If I want to take my time, I'll space out my swigs. Sips are had when first exploring the flavor profile, but c'mon. Do you not drink to quench a thirst, after all?

And this is written under the assumption that you're not drinking a 98+ rated beer every time you drink a beer.

End stages of deconstructing my college modus ops of drinking beer: gulping to get drunk. Occasionally still get too enticed by good beers though and forget to sip.

Like most of my other beer advocated I take 20-25 minutes for an IPA/DIPA, but if it 10% or higher that times increases by about 15-20 mintues

My first beer always disappears in mere minutes, then I slow down. Also depends on the ABV of the beer.

Finally! This makes sense to me, and as far as the first beer is concerned, you seem to be the only person in this conversation that drinks faster than I do, depending on how many mere minutes you mean

About 5 - 10 mins at the most for my first. And I'm always surprised how fast it's gone.

Now I don't feel so alone, though you'd finish your first before me. I don't think I will EVER take an hour to drink a beer though, unless I get my hands on something like a BCBS. As it is, I live in a rural area and we just don't get much out here.
