It looks like this beer is just hitting shelves. According to the BB website: "We have started to ship Hundred Yard Dash. It should be on tap and on store shelves very soon. We appreciate the patience, as we have been a bit behind during the expansion. This year's version is very good. Lower alpha acid levels drop the bitterness a little, however the aroma is much better. Very strong orange and pineapple, which is odd, as our classic "C" hops (Centennial, Cascade) were a smaller percentage of the overall hop bill. Our European hops (Goldings, Fuggles, Hallertaur) yielded much better than in past years, and subsequently are a bigger piece of the Hundred Yard Dash Hop pie. Overall, good beer. We'll definitely drink it." Pretty late in the season for a fresh hop beer. Wondering if they froze the hops? Anyone tried it yet?
Looking to pick some up as I've enjoyed it in the past. Seems like they were just brewing this when other fresh hops were coming out. I know they use their own hops grown in Lucan. Maybe they were harvested later here than the ones from the west coast? We did have a very late spring this year.
Picked some up at Lake and Wine. I thought it was enjoyable not very bitter as mentioned. Although, my recent consumption of Abrasive makes things hard to compare
I would rate this as the best fresh hop beers I have had this season. Less bitter, more fruity, some resinous, and less herbal than in years past.
Pretty late for a wet hopped beer. I can't imagine wet hops wound freeze well at all, so I'm wondering if maybe they dried them this year. Either way, had a taste yesterday and enjoyed it.
Too bad. I've sworn off them because it ALL tastes dank and dirty, but i really want to like them, so i was hoping the move would give me reason to try them again.
A little disappointed not terrible but short of very good. Wish I had just bought a couple of singles. So much really good beer out there right now.....
Good to know. Bylerys eagan still had Founders harvest so I grabbed that instead. Still tasting great!
What happened to this beer this year? Its not at all like previous years. To me it lacks the fresh hop profile that it usually has and has a wierd malt profile. Anyone else think this? In years past, this was the readily available, cheaper Wet substitute. Im not trying to rip on this beer, but its not at all like years past. very so-so this year. What was up with the 1+ month delay from all the other fresh hop beers?
I thought it was good - not great like previous years, but not bad. I think the delay had to do with them moving the entire brewery to a new location.
I agree its 'not bad' and that years past have been great. Just wondering what happened out loud. Hopefully with the new brewery things go better from now on
