I've had mixed experiences with it. I never cared for the '06/'07 version, but loved the '07/'08. I'm noticing that every other year I've had similar experiences. One year is more dry and roasty and the next year is more round and sweeter. I lean in the sweeter direction. Last year's was sweeter, so I don't exactly feel like scrambling all over town for a bottle this year.

it's just one of those beers I drank when I was new to beer and said "this is rated 100." Now I know better of course.

With all the Bourbon County out there now, I think the abyss may hang around for a little while this year. Last year, I must've gone to half a dozen places and never saw it, but I got a bottle today. I'm surprise it's only 28% barrel-aged, though. Shit, I could've gotten 3 bourbon counties for one of them.

Got one at Wilbur's Fort Collins this afternoon. They said they had about 19 left at 2:00pm today.

I'm having this for the first time tonight, and really liking it (glad I got two!). Maybe it's the cold I have, but I swear I smell a slight Flanders-red cherry-pie type of character in it. I don't taste it so much, though. I guess it could be the cherry bark (whatever the hell that shit smells and tastes like).

Has anyone seen any of this still hanging around stores in south Denver? (Centennial, Parker, Castle Rock, etc)

i'd try the liquor store on the southeast corner of coal mine and pierce in littleton. ask the beer guy, they may have some.

It's good, but after having 2 bottles, I can't call it $18 good. That's a tough sell with all the Big Bad Baptist out there, and with the Bourbon County stuff that just flew through.

The last two bottles of BBB I had smelled like a trashcan full of coffee grounds.

I will say release 14/16 were much better than 18, but still loving the hell out of Big Bad Baptist.

I guess I haven't had that one yet, lol. I do find that it's better the fresher it is, though.

I had the BBB at the tasting room, and it was like a cup of espresso. Not my thing, really... waaaaay over the top, but I can appreciate that if you're into coffee stouts... then that one's a freakin' monster.

Seriously, I am wondering if I am drinking the same beer here. BBB smells bad, tastes okay, but isn't over the top on coffee for me.

One of the beer guys here was saying the same thing... that they didn't get that much coffee on the bottle he brought home. But, I'm telling you, on tap at the brewery? Holy moly, that's some heavy coffee on that sucker.

If anyone roadtrips to Boise, ID there are cases of it sitting all over the Whole Foods.

That doesn't sound like BBB. It's by far the 'strongest coffee' beer I've ever had. "and it was like a cup of espresso." is a good description. A BA espresso. Go get some on tap at Epic.

I haven't had any BBB this year, but the one from previous years tasted okay up front but the back-end was like a tire fire. People were claiming it was comparable to KBS and my two experiences with it couldn't possibly have been any different...and I'm not even a KBS fanatic.
