I would love to trade anybody who has a bottle of Ghost Scorpion Lager. I have an uncle that can take down any amount of spicy we have thrown at him through out the years. This sounds like it might be a deal breaker.

I was also at this tasting (or another in Austin so I'm assuming it's the same one :astonished:) and I will have to second this. Ghost Scorpion is insane. I took two tiny sips and got the hiccups and my mouth was on fire for like 30 minutes. I honestly don't know how anyone could possibly drink a full bottle.

i have a bottle of GFK. haven't really known what do do with it yet. i'm either going to give it as part of a gag gift some day, cook with it (queso or mustard sounds good for it), or just breakdown and drink it

I went to El Toro yesterday, where Ghost Town is billed as the hottest beer in the world (I'll believe it when the mountains turn red). I finished about a third of my taster. I don't mind the excessive heat, I just don't like it coming from my beer. I don't know...I've enjoyed some of the darker beers brewed with peppers (Cocoa Mole and a porter from Bootleggers, to name a couple), I just don't think it works well with a lighter bodied beer. In fact, I washed down my burning hot sips of Ghost Town with a pint of their Oatmeal stout, and I thought that was actually a pretty nice combination.

Well the problem is, the lighter the beer, the more heat you're going to get from it and that heat is most likely going to overpower all the other flavors. Normally the flavors of something like a stout are going to be maltier and balance the heat a little more than something like a lager brewed with ghost chiles.

Ive only had a sip of Crime/Punishment and didnt like either. Ive had Stone Smoked Porter with Chipotle. Didnt like it.

I guess chili beers arent for me.

    Cheers!

I split a bottle of GFK bout a month ago with another BA. I thought that it was a really good beer, a lot of chile flavor came through. Definetly hot, but no other side effects. ISO of all of the other beers mentioned in here. Need to make my way over to Columbus and get some Ghost Scorpion

That Habanero Sculpin is tasty. I have never had Ghostface Killah but my brother has and he said he prefers the Sculpin.

Did you see that they are doing bottles of BA Crime and Punishment as part of their special release series? Haha.

Imagine if you drank a lot of it and had to, you know, ``break the seal''. Just how painful would that be?

I'd prefer more flavor and a lot of burn rather than not being able to get past 1oz. BTW I drank 18oz of Ghost Face last year at the brewery and loved it.

I'd like to hear from those that brewed the Ghost scorpion, can you imagine just working that batch? Talk about being overcome by fumes...eyes watering...and what about initial test batches YEEHAW!

GFK is blended with several different peppers to make the beer more palatable. Ghost peppers (and all of the other super-hot variants that pop up every few years) aren't always that tasty. Someone could make a ghost-only beer that's hotter than GFK if they really wanted to.

Maybe Crazy Ed had a good idea after all, even if badly done.

I am a huge chili head (4 time veteran of Hell Night at East Coast Grill & Pasta from Hell t-shirt winner) but I just don't get the combination of heat in the beer. I think the right beer can help you deal with spicy food.
Hey, to each their own, so I'm not complaining. Just don't get it.

    More for you guys.

If you like this beer, get to East Coast Grill during a Hell Week.
