Lots of mentions of Sam Smith's Chocolate Stout, but for the record, that beer isn't actually a milk stout.

Lancaster Milk Stout - world class. for those of you that have not tried this put it on the list. one of the best milk stouts i have ever tried and at a bargain price point. just received a double chocolate version in a trade and cant wait to try it.

runners up - moloko, white chocolate moo hoo, left hand nitro bottle
    * never had too cream or any ccb milks

BA categorizes it as a sweet/milk stout. Does any "official" ranking/categorization system distinguish based on whether lactose is added?

I guess I just think of it as falling on the "sweet stout" side of that category since it doesn't contain lactose. It has always seemed a bit strange to me that all those beers fall into the same general category when there are some pretty big discrepancies.

    Against the Grain 35K

For an imperial milk stout, Against the Grain 70K, the imperial, bourbon barrel-aged version. Both are FANTASTIC.

Bells Double Special Cream Stout is really really good. Hardywood GBS is amazing.

I really love the 4 hands chocolate milk stout. But, I don't know if 4 hands distributes out of Missouri so...hard to reach a large audience

Gotta go with Temptress by lakewood brewing company. Left Hand nitro is a solid second.

Creme Brulee, for me, was better on its first release. More creamy, more coffee-y (though, I understand that's not actually meant to be part of the flavor profile), and less artificial. It's still good, but since they changed the recipe, it just has an odd, bready and artificial flavoring to it that I find far less appealing.

I know it's been said, but for 365 availability for me it's Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout, and Left Hand Nitro Stout.

I had a Bell's Special Double Cream Stout at a bbq joint about a month ago that was the very best beer and food combo that I have ever had. I was also fortunate to have a Cream of the Rock Milk Stout at Founder's back in August that was mighty fine as well. Gimme either one and I will call it good.
