Oh, I must be doing this whole thing wrong. I thought advocates taught the history, shared the art of brewing, and aimed to teach others what camaraderie really was all about. I didn't know having six cliche shirts depicting rookie "whales" had anything to do with spreading the love of the industry.

 

If you know the owner of your local bottle shop owner's full name, cell phone number and all the employees refer to you by name.

 

You have a list of craft beer "go-to's" that you never actually go-to

 

Here's a good one that isn't tongue-in-cheek in any manner:

You might be a BA if you see some poor schmuck whining about crystal malt in IPAs, and your response is to straight-up send him a bottle of Alpine Duet.

 

If you wear a faded Sierra Nevada Ales Stouts and Porters T shirt from 15 years ago to funerals, weddings and football games and really couldn't care less whether you're in or out of style. The shirt feels good and you're proud of the beer.

 

...if check this forum first thing when you wake up and last thing before you go to bed.

 

if you plan your way home from Chicago to go 20 min out of the way to stop at FFF. ;-)

 

...if you prep a backdrop before taking pics of beer.

 

You might be a BA if you head to the local bottleshop even if nothing new came in, just to talk beer with the staffers. Then head home with 4 bottles you didn't need at all.

 

You might be a BA if you know more abbreviations for names of beers/breweries than you do for US states.

 

That's every single party I go to.

 

If your former co workers call to ask for advice on beer to give a customer while I'm underneath a car at work.

 

I just drink beer. That's where it begins and ends with me.

 

....if you check BA the way other people check Facebook.
... if you reconsider everything you post knowing that other advocates will eat you up with snark.
... if you spent half a year trying to introduce your pops to different beers, but have resigned accepted that he only drinks IPAs.
...if you find a way to sneak a brewery trip into every vacation.
... if you have to hide receipts from the bottle shop from your wife.
... if you have to rationalize your beer drinking to yourself and others every other day.

 

But your on BA aren't you?
