I approve of Limbo whole-heartedly. Excellent IPA, particularly for the price-point. I hope they swap out their standard IPA for Limbo.

Limbo has landed in NH, bottled 12/4. Very excited to crack one this evening.

Got some at Craft Beer Cellar in Belmont yesterday. Marty's Big Buys in Allston received some this morning as well.

I'd be more impressed if they brewed an excellent Czech Pils. It's nice they've brewed an excellent double IPA, but really, is it that hard to do? And considering their competition in Vermont, how much money will it make?

That being said, I look forward to trying it on draft, probably won't buy a whole six pack of it though.

Not much point in doing that considering the market for good IPA's these days, and this is a great beer regardless of who brewed it.
I'm sure they will actually make a ton of money with this offering, considering every place I've been to has said they are selling a ton of it. Oh, and the fact that you will be able to get it without having to go up into VT in the middle of nowhere and wait in line for it, yeah that helps.
Not a huge Long Trail fan by any means, but you have to give credit where its due. Great beer, great market for it and a great price that will be widely available.

Fair enough. But define "make a ton of money" and "selling a ton of it." Making a solid double IPA is VERY expensive, how much volume can you make, and how much revenue is that beer generating?

What major craft brewery (aside from the Alchemist) has a double IPA as their best selling beer, and the offering that generates the most revenue?

I agree with you, it will make them more money. But in 2013 I'm not giving anyone credit for brewing a solid double IPA. I could be wrong. But we'll see, for example, if in a few years Victory's Dirtwolf becomes their number one selling beer.

I just meant by "Selling a ton of it" that they say they haven't been able to keep it on the shelves, people have been buying it right up. I'm sure they weren't looking to make it their new flag-ship beer, but it will definitely help them out, since a lot of people are really into that style these days. I will give them credit, but to each their own. Just glad to see a great-tasting, readily available IPA on the market for a good price.

Well, like I said, I'll certainly try it, as it's getting great press in this thread. And clearly is flying off the shelves.

Just out of curiosity, is it hard for you to find a solid double IPA at a good price in CT?

Interesting tid bit (if true). I was told by one of the bottle shops that the logo was created after a LT fan sent an e-mail to the company asking them to brew a juicier IPA...They supposedly asked, "don't leave us in Limbo, throw us a bone".

Interesting comparison to DirtWolf. I remember hearing when it first came out that it was going to be a widely available, regularly distributed double IPA but I have not seen it on shelves around me for months. I did pick up some Limbo at CBC Newton on Saturday and mentioned that I was excited to try it if it was going to be an obtainable DIPA. The guys at the counter had high praise for its quality, but as to ongoing availability they said "We'll see... it's moving pretty quickly now."

I don't expect that regularly available = always on shelves, but now I wonder how often we will see it in and around Boston. FWIW, I enjoyed the Limbo thoroughly, though not necessarily more than Flower Power, which I do see almost every time I go to a decent shop, and typically fairly fresh.

I actually found that at Blackback Pub in Waterbury, VT on one of my pilgrimages. It was an empty they had on display at the bar. Pretty cool, huh?

The only HF porter I've ever had the pleasure of trying was Everett but it was literally the bottom of the keg and sputtering on my pint. I long for more...

In regards to the Limbo, I finally got my hands on a bottle and cracked it last night. It's definitely still really tasty but nowhere near as good as it was on tap the first time I tried it. I'd definitely take DirtWolf over this in bottles. Can't wait for that production to pick back up!
