I have a video of it if you want to see it. Have you had that beer? It's basically melted driveway mixed with cheap liquid chocolate.

I've had it twice now and think it's fantastic and smooth for how strong it is. It both tastes better and is less hot than BT.

Honestly, it's worth whatever you are willing to trade to get it...

Disagree on both counts. But it's definitely no drain pour.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess...

For those who have tried Rare multiple times, how is it aging? I'm getting a single bottle from a trade and I kind of want to wait until I graduate from law school in 2 years to open it, but I don't want it to be over the hill by then.

it's not going to fall off a cliff, based on other aged bcbs i've had, but the beer is 3.5-ish years old at this point (including barrel time). you're doing it no favors stacking on another 2.

In my opinion the beer has peaked / is peaking and like Levitation said you're not doing yourself any favors sitting it for two years. Most likely it will drink wonderfully well if you open it now.

Yes, it's really that good. I would see if you could just get it straight up for the CR though.

Thanks for the advice. Guess I'll keep my eye out for something else nice in the next two years, then!

Let's put it this way. Rare is my absolute favorite BA Beer. I'd have to side by side it with BA Dark Lords though to be sure.

Regardless of my opinion, this is my favorite description of CR from someone who doesn't like it.

I had the tiniest sip of Rare at Dark Lord Day this year, and I can honestly say that it is one of my favorite beers. It was unbelievably good, and totally lived up to the hype monster.

I also had 2009 Black Tuesday which was really, really close to being just as good. I'd probably have to try them side by side to figure out which is better (hint hint, anyone wanna be my best friend?)

Rare is a perfect example of diminishing returns. Sure, its really really good, but I'd get more utils (or enjoyment if you're not an economist) with an equivalent assortment of regular and coffee BCS.

had a bottle 3 months ago and its drinking fantastic. For those who say bcbs is just as good or some vintages are. I don,t taste it all. Rare is far superior IMO

I've heard from many people that BT is a better beer than CR. Some say way better. You should give it a try before you take a crap on it. All those people can't be wrong right:wink:

to me, Rare is tops, but then again it's JUST beer. if you are into ticking and trying stuff, why not make the trade? i say this, but i cling to my final few bottles of Rare, but i'm sure i'll open them on a Tuesday (especially if my birthday lands on a Tuesday). Rare is a real treat, but once you drink it you just piss it out just like every other beer you have.
