if it's wrong to be miffed that a world-class ipa is being served in a warm glass, then pass me a banquet beer i guess. this place, i swear.

I'd rather have a chilled glass than one dripping and stinking of sanitizer. Happens way to much.

Why wouldn't the bar have someone, maybe a manager who could coordinate these things and learn how to clean lines so someone is always there. It takes less than 10 minutes when you don't break everything down to soak it.

Yeah, the best "beer bar" in Eagan is a restaurant with about eight pretty good taps.

South of the river suburbs are a long, ugly, barren beer wasteland, & I know several others in the north & east aren't much better.

Pretty sure a solid taproom in the south metro would have more business than it can handle (or a good beer bar).

I wonder if the soon to open Crooked Pint Ale House in Apple Valley can help us poor south metro folk out?

There was supposed to be a second location for a local Minneapolis/St. Paul based franchise ("Twisted Fork" and "Crooked Pint" are the ones I'm thinking of) opening down that way -- never heard whether it did.

There's gotta be enough interest in a brewpub/taproom or gastropub down that way, right? :astonished:

Hah! "One BeerAdvocate on a mission to transform the nether regions of the South Metro into a beer-lover's paradise." Would be a sweet motto for a blog...

Grumpy's Roseville is more like Chammp's on West 7th than Grumpy's NE. Grandfather or not, a spade is a spade.

That sounds like it would cut into my beer drinking time.

Not all sports bars are created equal, and Chammp's original "Fox and Hound" location occupies a special place in my beer-y heart. It was right after my mom had passed, so my immediate family was scattered to the wind. My older brother and I ended up enjoying a traditional Thanksgiving dinner in empty bar, but the attention of a tipsy, local barfly and three pints of Summit IPA* really made what should've been a pretty dreary holiday much more mirthful.

(*An important distinction to make, since 'round about this same time Al McCarty had suggested it was almost impossible to find a Summit brand other than E.P.A. at a suburban sports bar. :sunglasses:)

Sounds like it will be similar to the Valley Tap House that's just off Cedar in Apple Valley. The Crooked Pint in Minneapolis is decent enough, but will qualify as top-tier down here. Though I'll wager the Tap House will have better food (their bbq is excellent).

They do sound similar. Crooked Pint will be about half the distance as Valley Tap House for me. I'm hoping they will have a little more variety in their tap list too.
