I believe wine (11%) freezes around 20 degrees, assuming the beer is room temp prior to putting in you trunk, I don't think it will freeze by morning.

So the real question is, how does everyone plan to stay warm in line?

    Is a Whiskeyjacket necessary?

Hand warmers, foot warmers, multiple layers, my winter sleeping bag, a small camp stove, a space blanket and plenty of good beer to share. :grinning:

I'll just put my chair down for my spot in line then sleep in my car all night. Figure I'll hop back in line about 6am and be good to go. That's cool, right?

I wouldn't think I'll get too cold standing in line from like 5:15-630 or so when I turn in my order.
Not sure why everyone says a tent is necessary. Probably won't even be time to bottle share with everyone only starting to show up around 5.

Anyone from GR coming that wants to do me a beer favor? I'd like to grab a couple 4 packs of Le Flaneur, and it's pub-only and I won't be able to make it up there. Can someone grab 2 4 packs for me and I'll meet up with you at 4Elf? If so, send me a message to work out the details.

I'm thinking Carhartt bibs, hunting boots, hat and gloves. Not gonna get any style points but I'd rather not freeze.

Any advice on how to keep bottles from freezing in a car for a couple hours? I was thinking hand warmers inside of a small cooler. I don't want to wait in line forever with a 750 in my jacket.

I've left bottles in my trunk for weeks at a time in weather like this before, and I've never had an issue with freezing or breaking. With that said, I've never risked it with anything valuable, just shelf beers.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, last year I had a case of Backwoods Bastard in my trunk for two whole months (January and February) and nothing went wrong with it.

I have left much lower alcohol beer in my garage over the winter with no problems. High alcohol beers do not freeze that easily. On that note, I wouldn't blame you for taking precautions.

Awesome. I'll probably refrain from bringing low abv beers then just to be sure.

It's gonna be a cold Biotch. I will for sure be bringing my Mr. Heater Big buddy, contemplating a shelter of some sort.

If anyone really wants to make sure that bottles don't freeze, I think that you could put them in a cooler (in plastic bags?), then fill the cooler maybe half-way with lukewarm water. With the lid closed, I would be very surprised if that water would freeze. If the water doesn't freeze, the bottles aren't going to freeze. If anything, it might keep the temperature of the beers up a little bit, which would be preferred for stouts, etc.. This might be plausible for bottle share beers, but probably not the cases of beers you buy at DH.
