died the flying dog white heat, it was a good beer, but wasn't very "wheat", it tasted to me more like a more classic belgian style, fruity ,ale

I would say that mine is from Modern Times here in San Diego. It's Fortunate Islands. A great wheat beer. I never really liked the style before I had that one. It's not very 'wheat' tasting though. A bit hoppy, and has a very fruity aroma. Great brew.

just tried river horse double wit, its a good beer to be sure, but i wasn't really getting the "high percentage of wheat" that beers of this category supposedly get, its pretty malty and fruity, quite like a belgian style ale, and in fact smell and tasted very much like north coast's prankster. but it was definitely good, and at 8.99 for a four pack not a bad buy.

Boulevard Wheat. It has no gawd-awful banana flavors in it.

I usually do not like wheat beers, but Weihenstephaner Hefe was a game changer for me. $3 can't go wrong.

Weihenstephaner is my favorite by far.

Interesting comment about people who are less picky beer drinkers loving wheat beers. What I find is that there's a high correlation between liking stouts, wheat beers and strong belgian ales. What do those have in common, flavorful beers that aren't too hoppy?
