So what's the verdict on this beer - drink it fresh or let it cellar for awhile? I only have one bottle.

    IMHO, 1-year is best

I buy 2 every year, sit on one for a year (just drank my 2012), and cellar one for a vertical some day

I agree. I opened up a 2011 with 18 months on it and I was VERY delicious. Much more-so than fresh, however, fresh is still tasty.

I just had 2011 and 2012 and both were tasty as hell.

Had a 12 a few weeks ago and enjoyed it much more than fresh. Fresh, I felt like it was just an imperial Obsidian Stout that had a few weak bourbon notes. Could taste the barrel(s) a lot more when aged.

Drank a 2010 a few weeks ago and 2013 recently, both were good but....2010 was better.

I don't like Abyss all that much but the Abraxas I'm drinking is soooo delicious. Hunahpu level good, I'd have to do a side by side in all honesty. It's like thick chocolate syrup heaven. Now I get why the BA version is so sought after. I need to build up my cellar to try and trade for one.

I prefer it fresh to 6 months or so. I enjoy the coffee!!

No one has been asking, but just in case:
