Also had a 1996 Samichlause that was incredible!!!
Bottom fermented Dopple at 14% gave me a whole new outlook on aging beer.

Age whatever you want, form your own opinion. Just don't get hit by a truck / have an aneurysm before it develops to where you want it. Also, I am kind of surprised by all the responses for aging Narwhal. That stout is wonderful fresh! I will do a side by side of a 2012 and 2013 soon to see if there is something to what you people are saying.

That's so easy: Courage Russian Stout. The 1992's and 1993's I have are still improving and one I had from the 1970's last year was ourstanding.

Dunno about aging - they don't last long around here! Narwhal is pretty tasty right off the shelf as is what I'm sucking down for breakfast - Weyerbacher Old Heathen.

It must be Guinness, who sells more than them? ;-) Non barrel aged, my vote goes to Marshall Zhukov. Barrel aged would be black note.

Bell's Expedition Stout. I recently tried a 2012 and 2013 side by side. The 2013 was excellent, but the 2012 was much more balanced and not quite as hot. Look forward to seeing what another year will do to it!

I haven't aged many stouts, but Stone's IRS is my favorite. A shop near me opened their cellar a little over a month ago and I was able to get bottles from 2009-2012. I got the 2009 Belgo Anise IRS, too, that I'm looking forward to trying, but the reviews are pretty mixed on that.

Just had my very first can tonight..pretty damn amazing! And that's saying a lot with my other favorite stouts right there with it (Stone IRS, Narwhal, Old Rasputin).

Narwhal and old raspy are good bargain ris, but ten fidy I think is a step above. You can really tell it is a first runnings beer through the mouthfeel and overall malt impression compared to those two beers. But that's just one mans opinion. Last years ten fidy was a bit moree astringent and it just got worse as it aged, but this years is sublime.
