Shoot, why stop there? Just brew your own base beer, buy some barrels and age it so you'll have something to dump your cold brew in. Or do what most beer drinkers do and let the brewers do the work.

You mad? I'm just commenting on the huge demand for the beer and the at-all-costs approach people seem to be taking to get it as well as the premium it's commanding. Let's take a look at the big picture. There's an abundance of bcbs and if you've managed to secure a comfortable supply, why go through great lengths to obtain the coffee variant? Does it make sense to skip work, meetings, school, feeding your kid, etc. just so you can have a version of bcbs with coffee added (something you can easily do at home if you have the supply of bcbs)?

I'm gonna find out what some brewers do with coffee later today myself.

I'm not saying him, specifically, but in general. There's a lot of hype behind the coffee variant and since it supposedly had the lowest yield, people are experiencing disappointment when they can't get it. My point is to save yourself the disappointment (if you missed out on getting some) and do it the ghetto way.

It's just not the same though. I splashed some Folgers into my BA stout before, and it sucked.

This especially goes for people who are into coffee and are striking out on getting bcbcs since they're more than likely to have good beans on hand.

Sure, it may not be the same exact beer, but will it suffice? Like I mentioned before, coffee is added to the beer at some point in the process (usually at bottling). Unless goose island uses a new process unknown to everyone, then all you're getting is bcbs with coffee added. You don't even need to be a brewer to be able to do that. You don't even need fancy coffee brewing equipment. Just steep some course ground beans in water at room temp in a growler for 24 hours. Filter it when done and boom you have cold brewed coffee.

If you brew coffee at home, aren't you a brewer?

I was told yesterday that the Rye hit the Whole Foods systems, so they can order it now. At least the WF in the Bay Area. Could hit as early as this week. *Not holding my breath.

It hit a few liquor stores down here in SoCal last week. The places I heard of got one case each.

What's the best way to see if various Bevmo, Total Wine, or Whole Foods get this in? I know that the Newport Whole Foods has Instagram, but all of the others seem like you either have to visit the store or call. I'm getting a bit tired of calling one Bevmo in particular (who is suppose to get barleywine and coffee) and asking if they got the delivery yet. Smaller liquor stores definitely have this a lot more dialed in.

Just called around today and apparently some more Coffee/Barleywine is due to go out today/tomorrow around the Bay, but no one had actually seen it. Closest was Whole Foods Berkeley which said they were supposed to see it today but there was a fulfillment error so they didn't get any.

As for Backyard Rye, same Whole Foods buyer said he thought it was still two weeks off for them.

Just tried (currently drinking) BCBS. I can see why this would have broad range appeal, with all the sweetness, but it's only my 3rd favorite stout, thus far (4.35). w00tstout and Velvet Merkin being my 2nd and 1st, though which is 1st I can't say until I crack open that second bottle of the w00t next summer (but, given how much cheaper w00t was than VM...).

Edit: Hopefully, I'll get around to the sisters eventually. They aren't selling very fast (as higher priced beers tend to in my store, so chances are good, as long as I can get some money soon. Hell, we only just finished selling our two cases of Tart of Darkness in the last two or three days!).

Is there a place to get all the sisters still? I've only acquired Juliet and Lolita - would like to find the others.
